Where is the rev limiter located on a 2001 yamaha wr250f? Bike is cutting out at about 20 miles per hour. Have checked numerous other things and someone suggested maybe something is wrong with the rev limiter. Thanks!

It cuts out when you're at the top of the gear (just about to shift) in every gear. No tac so I can't tell how many rpm's, but higher rpm's since it's at the top of the gear. Is the rev limiter a switch? Does it have wires that can go bad? Where is it located on the bike? We've tried many other things, but still have the problem.
Sorry I don't know much about this, always had a 2-stroke....Thanks for your time!

The rev limiter is pre programed into the CDI box.
Try looking at spark plug then clean carb and check float level

What is causing my Trooper to hesitate when I accelerate to 20 miles per hour.

Have an electronic evaluation carried out, it's quicker and in the long run safes you frustration and cash.

How do i disconnect a rev limiter on a 2001

Not a good idea. Its a big motor with big pistons and you get those big suckers pumpin faster than yamaha intended and you'll end playing "Which of these pieces in my bottom end USED to be in my top end"

Died While drivng

Check for spark first. If spark is there, chances are the carb has filled with water that has accumulated from condensation in the gas tank. Drain the carb, stick in a fresh spark plug and then give it a try. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

I cant find the rev limiter on a 50cc yamaha raptor

go to the batttery of your bike. and you will find the CDI unit. look for either a pink / grey and white wire going to the CDI unit and back round (loop) and cut it, your bike shud then keep pushing
hope this is useful

Poor gas mileage, no power in engine

Your problem could be caused by numerous things, how well was this car maintained? A good tune-up should rectify your problems, oil change, air filter change, tranny fluid and filter change, plugs and wire's, coolant flush, timing belt, thermostat, fuel filter are all things that you should have done if they haven't been done recently. Let me know what you have or haven't done on the car and I can try to diagnose further.

Hope this helps
