No power As for the other faults reported, my Garmin 550 worked fine for about 2 months; it was turned off and left in the glove compartment of my car overnight. Next morning it wouldnt start and still wont start even when connected to either the car or bike mount or when plugged into USB charger. I have tried to remove the battery to no effect and a hard reset but again no effect.

The sound on my garmin zumo 550 is not working right it has been working fine. But this morning when I hooked it to my Harley ultra classic it was reel low upon further check it was only coming through...

sounds like the Audio patch cord, i had around 5 of them that do that ...sometimes i hear the music thru one speaker, cracking noise sometimes it works when the wire is twisted, but i would try a new patch cord first.....my patch cord worked fine on some stereo units others break up

Recharging/Traffic Problem with Garmin StreetPilot 550

Hi,

Initially, you would need a DVM (voltmeter) to check if there is an output from the cigarette lighter adapter/charger. Your post "...green lights on cable is on (the one closest to the socket)..." indicates that there is 12VDC coming in (from your car) but "...the other one is not..." signifies that the adapter is not processing the incoming 12VDC and forward it to your Garmin StreetPilot 550. With the DVM, you can measure the output B+ (which should be something like +5VDC) which is also the output voltage of your computer's USB port.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

The battery will not charge and the dash instrument cluster will not work. we have checked all the fuses and none of them are blown. its a 2005 ford f550

It sounds like you have a fuseable link that has melted... Check down by the starter... There may be another connector and main power terminal in the left side of the engine compartment but remember when you look inside the engine compartment it will be on your right....

Garmin gps keyboard -- left upper corner fails to work when press ''A'' is C and others on left side are incorrect also. How do I fix?

Sounds like you need to recalibrate the screen. This can be done by following the steps below:

To Calibrate the Touch Screen on a zūmo®:
1. Turn the unit Off and make sure it is not attached to any outside power source.
2. Power the unit On, continue to hold the Power button for 1 minute. 3. A screen will display that says, Press dot in the lower left corner. 4. Release the Power button and touch the sequence of dots until your unit says Calibration complete.

Good luck!

GARMIN WILL NOT TURN OFF

I have the same problem. Seems to happen when I get a photobox warning in a tunnel an after that loose satelite connection in the tunnel. This has happened two times at the same place, The only solution I`ve found so far is to take out the battery and start again. Hopfully there will come a software update for this soon!

Garmin gps

Keeping the unit in the glove compartment is not a good idea, for a couple of reasons. If anyone suspects you have the unit, the glove box is the first place they will look. Secondly, it gets very hot/cold in the glove compartment, depending on the ambient temperature. It is not good for the unit, or the battery, to be subjected to extremes in temperatures. It is possible the battery is no longer working properly as a result.

Touch screen not working properly

I'm not familiar with the Zumo family of GPS from Garmin, but if they are similar enough to the StreetPilot, you should be able to recalibrate the screen. In the StreetPilot series, to recalibrate you turn the unit off. Press and hold the bottom right of the screen and turn the unit on. Keep pressing the screen until the calibration information begins. Try this, see if it works on the Zumos, too.

GARMIN c550 will not turn on

There is an ISSUE with the DEAD ZUMO, however some of the are solved, and some need to be shipped back.
There are a couple of options.
1) remove the battery, keep power button pressed for a few minutes. install battery, try.
2) fully recharge the battery with the wall charger, try
3) With a fully charged battery, press and hold the + button and press the power button(hard reset).
4) hold thumb firmly on top left of touch screen and hold power button till it switches on(hard reset).
5) Try a different battery (fully charged)
6) Ship it to Garmin
