Hi, Logan and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at the ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Faulty run/off switch
11. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
12. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

SOURCE: 1983 F250 will crank but not start

look down the throat of the carb while engine is off, rotate the accelerator linkage and see if gas shoots into the throat, if it does the carb is getting its own fuel.

timing-look at the lower crank pully find your reference mark (small tab or pointer) and rotate the crank by hand until you line up 0 degrees with the pointer, open distributor cap see if it is pointing at the number 1 cylinder. if it pops and does not start, repeat this process, then unbolt distributor rotate the rotor 180 degrees reinstall and try again

This happend to me before. Go back and check the firing order and make sure the spark plug wires are in the right place. A Chilton auto repair book for your vehicle, available at many auto part stores are really helpful. Check the rotor and distributor cap also and make sure they seat properly. Assuming the distributor itself has not been removed it should start. If the distributor was removed from the vehicle and not installed in the exact position it was before (maybe a couple of notches off) you will have to find top dead center on the compression stroke on plug #1 and check to see if the rotor is pointing at the at plug wire #1 on the distributor cap. The distributor itself can be adjusted by loosening the locking nut and turning it slowly clokwise or counter clokwise to ****** or advance the spark. make sure all your vacume lines are in the right place also. All these procedures can be found in the book.

SOURCE: 93 HD Sportster 1200 will not start!

Have you tried to bypass the starter button/switch? Use a heavy jumper wire to go between the starter terminal and the positive battery terminal. Turn the key to "On" position, make sure "Run/Off" switch is turn on. Make sure bike is in neutral. I've started guys bikes with coat hangers before when they lost had trouble with the starter button. If the bike starter turns over, you'll at least have a place to start looking for the issue. Also you said you checked the battery, what was the voltage?

Testimonial: "Thanks for the info. I tried your solutions, but bike will still not start. Do not see any pinched wires. When you push the start button the ignition circit pops and then resets. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks for all your help phinfanls13"

Check your pick-up sensor located inside the timing cover, behind the adjustor plate. If the filament is not intact you will have no spark.
A defective coil, cam position sensor, or stator will also cause a no spark condition.

Good luck, i hope this will FixYa and get your bike back on the road.

How to change spark plugs on a 02 harley sportster 1200 custom ?

With the engine cold, remove the wires from the spark plugs, then use a spark plug socket to remove them. Set the gap on the new plugs at 0.040 (forty thousandths). Give the threads a light coating of anti seize and install the new plugs. Re-install the wires and you are done.
