It may be piston slap if your idle speed is particularly low, but that's a bit strange for a new-ish bike. Hard to diagnose online - why not drop in to your dealer for a quick appraisal by one of the mechanics?
Hi, white smoke is not a sign of wear of pistos, blue smoke is (because is burning oil along with petrol) White smoke indicates a wrong gas/air ratio in your carbs.
If you also have other sevear mechanical problems, my sugestion is to just change the all engine for another one (second hand) wich is in better shape than yours. That way you save yoursef some time and some money
It's possible the timing belt has broken. Has it ever been replaced? (This isn't the serpentine belt that you see in front of the engine; the timing belt is located inside the front engine cover where you can't see it.) If that's the problem, make sure that the engine hasn't been damaged before spending big bucks to have the belt replaced. (In some engines, when the timing belt breaks, the pistons can damage the valves. If your car has an engine like that, it may not be worth repairing.)
Lots of bikes make a clacking in the transmission , especially when cold at idle. Basically the engine accelerates and decelerates between each piston firing, and you hear the backlash in the gears slapping back and forth. Without hearing it I can't say for sure, but find someone else with a similar bike and see if it sounds the same.
If he was doing burnouts it could be multiple problems - overheating, too many revs, drivetrain hammered.
Certainly a lot of burnouts can cause overheating - no air and lots of revs gets things hot really fast!
High revs can result in camchain issues, piston/valves coming together, broken rings, siezed pistons, broken bearings, and much more :)
Sorry to hear this - I suggest a trip to a bike mechanic to get a diagnosis before it gets worse and costs you a packet.
A gearbox problem is possible but not likely. You are probably hearing pre-ignition aka; engine knock and detonation. Hot carbon deposits on the piston and head are igniting the gas before the spark plug does. Use premium gas instead of regular. Change gearbox oil (10w40). Get a new spark plug one heat range colder than the stock plug for your bike. Chances are the problem will go away once you are using premium gas and have the new plug.
Gooped up power valve should not produce noise. One would think it the valve was that loose, or the spring were gone it would develope a lower, strange curved, punchy power band, but not make noise. Still, it wouldn't hurt to see which spring (or lack thereof) is in the valve.
The run-on, rough high RPM and noise would tend to make me think of a lean condition. How's the plug looking?
