Has it been sitting for awhile and if you roll forward then switch it into gear does it shift fine. If it goes into gear while rolling the it's a clutch adjustment. If it's been sitting it's most likely tbe clutch plates are stuck together. Even though it's a semi auto it still uses clutch plates that are accessable to you.

You will have a slave cylinder either on the firewall and /or on the side of the transmission for the hydraulics of your clutch. hope that this answers your question. Good luck, and remember to rate all replies that you get. Thanx.

Could be burnt, or scorched clutch discs. DId you check the oil lately? I believe the Madasses have a wet clutch, right? Hope you didn't burn up the whole clutch basket. But you may have. Check the oil now!!!

hi,this might help, without looking at the bike it sounds like either the kickstand switch or the clutch lockout switch has failed, either switch failing will cause the problem you describe as they are both linked in the wiring harness..hope this helps...cheers ian
SOURCE: Hello, Clutch not disengaging properly
it looks like you have worn clutch plates very common on learner bikes. but do try to adjust the clutch cable first by winding the adjuster on the clutch lever. if this fails drain the eng oil and remove the left hand eng cover to get at the clutch plates. remove the springs by turning retaining bolts about 6 of them. then your clutch plates will slide out off the drum any bent steel plates even a little replace. any dark or burnt friction plates also replace, usually done all in one go and quite cheap to do . fit new parts in exactly reverse order dont forget new oil re set cable and off you go p.s also check clutch basket for tiny notches from plate wear if very little a gentle file will sort this
