My zings hen storm was firing on only one side. I figured out that my chain was loose and had been rubbing on the wires to the magneto coil.

Chances are it is a grounded kill switch on the handlebars or a side-stand / center-stand kill switch that has gone bad or is out of position.
Stick in a new spark plug also.

Will cdi box stop stator from firing on a 125cc pit dirt bike

Stator will stop the cdi from firing the spark plug and either cdi or stator if bad will stop a spark from being created. The coil, wiring, kill switch and other things can also stop ignition spark.

No fire to coil changed stator checked ac voltage with meter on 3 white and brown and green wires voltage to rectifier no power on red or white wire to cdi, changed cdi box still no voltage on coil

Do you have a teather switch ? I would suggest start by checking the resistance of the on off switch . Then procede to the cdi relay. If you do not know how to test such items let me know and I will break it down step by step.

I have a 82 yamaha maxim 750 thats not getting fire to the plugs an woundering if u can tell me a little to get me startyed...

Heres how it works.

There is a 1.stator and 2.rotor and 3.signal generator, located on the cranckshaft.
1.Stator produces A/C current
2. Rotor has magnets in it and goes around the stator and is part of the A/C current process.
Rotor also has a raised spot on the out side of it which the signal generator identifies.
3.Signal generator is a wire positioned just above the rotor to read the raised spot on
the rotor every time the rotor spins around. This wire tells the cdi to fire.

The CDI which receives the signal from the signal generator wire. Sends the signal to a coil.

The coil is energized and fires.

Always check the components in reverse order, because the stator, rotor and signal generator rarely fail.

1st, if your getting power to the coil and the coil doesn't fire , then its the coil .
2nd if your not getting power to the coil, then its probably the cdi.
3rd. Check that all the wires are making a good contact before you change your cdi, because
cdi is usually exspensive.
4th before you purchase the cdi, make sure the stator and rotor and signal generator are working.

This will get you started.
best regards

I have no spark on a sunl 250 4 wheeler i have replaced coil,voltage regulator,and cdi box?

if you have replaced all that it sounds like it is the stator. its an alternator for small engines. get one on ebay cause factory are always expensive. its located behind the pull start. take that off then the side case cover.

Hi. I have a stock 1998 kdx 200 that needed a blackbox. I bought a replacement cdi but the wiring on the bike is different to the 98 cdi unit. Colors are different too. The wiring on the bike is a kdx as...

Try following the wire from the stop button on the handle bar back to the CDI box. Simply unplug that wire. CDI is disabled by grounding. Does the KDX have a key switch or just the stop button. Try just connecting the pick up wire to the CDI and CDI to coil. You have to isolate ground to CDI to run. Check air gap at pick up. Use a matchbook for a gauge.(.018)

Have a 2000 springer, was riding and it shut off..no power...i replaced battery and it fired up...cked voltage output and it was 14.5 v..ran good for about a week..then the battery started smokin.. so...

Sounds like the CDI was bad to begin with not the stator. The stator puts out unregulated power. The CDI regulates the voltage output as well as sends power to the coils. Hope this helps...

Hi i have an 05 crf150f it wil not get spark at all i have replaced my coil, wiring harness but my stator is getting spark. i think it might be the rev box (cdi)please help me i am tired of fixing it over...

well the stator doesn't give spark it give voltage and if you test it and the is voltage and you have replaced all that stuff with good ones then it is your cdi box.

to test the stator for voltage take a multimeter on the ac scale and test the output of the stator while kicking the bike over if you have voltage rising and falling then your stator is fine. if not you will need to test the pick coil in the stator area for a ground pulse this is what the cdi box uses as a reference for the position of crank shaft and piston. just like a crank sensor in a car. if there is ground pulse there when you back probe the wires coming out of the pick up then your cdi is for sure the issue. if you have any more question please ask. good luck

Please help I have a 1980's model susuki dr 250 the ignition spark got steadily worse until it now has none.I have checked the ht coil, pulse pick up coil, earthing wires, cut off switchand had the stator...

I have a 83 DR 250 and i'm not getting enough voltage to create a spark, all I can suggest is that you check your battery and make sure its at full flavour. Check and see if you are getting any voltage prior to the ignition coil (should be 18-35v). If you suspect battery then try clutching it as the alternator moving faster might give you enough to get her going. Also check all your connections and earths. Earth wires are often overlooked and can cause you just as many problems as the actives. So give that a go and get back to me mate. Cheers

4 wheeler won't start

The Sunl's are notorious for the stator going out. Check with your dealer for specs on testing the stator. It could also be the CDI unit too! I hope this helps
