Petrol in the cylinder can be caused by a badly leaking injector as well. Check for spark in the other cylinders. If no spark there, it can be the anti theft system shutting the engine off. Check for fuel pressure. Remove the air filter cartridge and spray some starter fluid in the intake. If the engine tries to start, you may have a fuel pressure problem (pump or clogged filter)

SOURCE: misfire in 1 & 2 cylinders after changing wires plugs and coil

since the problems appeared after the work, it is in the work. prob is in wires or plugs.. take no 1 plug out put it back in wire terminal, re install one of you old plugs into no 1 cylnder have someone turn eng. over ck for bright spark repeat for no 2. make sure plug gap is correct. if no fire to you plugs. then you know what to do replace the wires.

SOURCE: It has a number 2 cylinder misfire. I have already had the plugs, plug wires, and the back coil changed, and it still says it has a number two cylinder misfire. What can I try next?

misfire caused by leaking in the intake valve you must chek it , or may be your car is working rich that means fuel - air mixture is not on the right ratio so check your oxygen sensor

MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2 COULD BE LEAKING INTAKE AT CYLINDER 2 OR DIRTY CLOGGED FUEL INJECTOR AT 2 CYLINDER.REPLACE AIR FILTER IF IT LOOKS DIRTY AND CLOGGED UP AND CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.IF FLUID LOOKS BURNT SMELLY CHANGE FLUID AND FILTER.

My car is cutting off every time im going under 1000rpm. mercury sable 2002. codes were p0301 p0302 and p0316 until i changed crank sensor and spark plugs now it says p0316 p0305 p0306.. whats going on?...

Hi

P0305 is misfire in cylinder #5.
P0306 is misfire in cylinder#6.
P0316 is misfire on start up.
Have the plugs on those 2 cylinders, and the 2 fuel injectors checked, also check for spark from the coil on those 2 plug wires.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept the solution.

Peugeot 306 turns over but will not start.been off road for 2 months, battery just been recharged.whats wrong ,oil and petrol ok.

I would suggest taking out ALL the plugs. The engine will turn over much faster and not drain the battery. You may find that the fuel in the engine has become diluted with water. This turning over without plugs will do a couple of things: a)free up and lubricate everything.
b) give the fuel pump the greatest chance of getting fuel through to the cylinders, c) purge some stale fuel out of the engine. You should be able to smell petrol vapour once it's coming through, albeit feintly.
c)Give you chance to check the spark on each plug.
NOTE THE LOCATION OF EACH PLUG LEAD! If these get swapped round, it will never start until they are corrected!

Just died when driving

Fine, do you have spark all the way to the plugs? What is the fuel pressure must be AT LEAST 42 PSI as soon as you turn on the ignition
You didn't mention the ignition module
Check the engine cranking Vacuum it needs to be at least 2" cranking if not the catalytic converters can be so plugged the engine can't start YES IT IS VERY POSSIBLE HAPPENS ALL THE TIME
The other reason you may not have 2" of cranking vacuum would be a jumped timing chain also check the compression look for any low cylinders add some ennginen oil to those low cylinders and if they do not come way up right away you have valve problems.
