Can a hole/crack in the crankcase be repaired. Honda cr250r
I'm going to answer just based on your question, which really concerns welding an aluminum case, with a hole/crack in it.
(Not comment about what other damage, may have resulted that you may not be aware of, until the engine is torn down)
To correctly weld it, the engine should be completely taken apart down to the bare crankcase. The crankcase should be steam cleaned in a professional parts washer.
The crankcase should then be put in a jig fixture, to keep it from twisting while welding. Heliarc is the best welding solution for this.
Yes in most cases, it depends how much material is missing and how much load the surface bears. if is damaged on a machined surface than no. the component break must be accessible from both sides of the wound, and be oil free. you must call around to find a fab or specialty welding shop to do this. its not cheap but you must decide if the part is worth fixing or even fixable. hondas engine cases are broken down into many peices may not be the end of the world. see what new is first then call around. good luck
Yes, (Aluminum) but it depends on where as welding aluminum needs to be done by a very good welder. It needs to be in a place that you can get at it to clean up and weld. Dissasembly is also a big part of it. Have a welder look at it if you can.
