Royal star venture spewing gas from carbeurator overflow, 2007 royal star midnight venture. Went on 2600 mile trip, middle of june, bike was fine, got it out to ride today, hard to start, then gas went everywhere

No you should have from time to time safety checked your motorcycle, brakes are a normal wear part and should have been replaced before the friction material had completely worn off.

I had this problem on one of my bikes and found that I had a bad ground. Wires can be broken inside the insulation. An ohm meter can be used for that. Do a continuity check on the wiring.
sounds like you have either a stuck float or a needle and seat leaking your carb is overflowing and coming out overflow tube. could try adding a carb cleaner additive to your fuel but chances are you will have remove and clean carbs or replace needle and seat jim
I have a 2007 Royal Star and it gets around 35 mpg. When it had the break-in oil, it did do a little better but when I changed it the first time, it went down to about 35 and has stayed there for 20+ miles. This may be a dumb question, but are you hanging the throttle open to raise the idle instead of using it as a choke? This is not really a solution response. Gotta check something.
