Battery went bad while i was riding it. replaced battery and it's hard to start but when i do get it running it sounds like it's missing out. changed the spark plugs thinking they might have fouled out but still the same story. the voltage regulator had been replaced before all of this happened but could the battery going bad cause the regulator to go bad? this is my first bike so any help is much appreciated!!
I had a similar problem on my 1998 honda superhawk. I was down in Daytona Beach, Florida, and it was really hot and my battery went dead. It turned out that the heat of being down there along with the frequent short trips and idling we were doing down there fried my regulator/rectifier. It actually melted it was so hot. I bought a new regulator rectifier from a guy online who was really cool about it. Rick's Motorsports Electrics was the name of his store.
I looked up the part for you. check it out: http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=10-417&pmc=OTRZYW1GWlI2MDA=
if you go to the website and look around, you'll find that you can pull up parts for any bike. the link i provided was for a 94 fzr 600. you might also check www.ronayers.com or www.bikebandit.com just to check for price variances. those two sites have microfiches (like little schematics) with every part on the bike that you could look up and purchase.
About your headlight, if it's not burnt out, you may have a problem that's unrelated to your regulator/rectifier. try hooking jumper cables from your battery to another battery like from a bike or car and try your headlight. swap out the bulb first. if the bulb isn't the problem, you may want to have someone look at the bike who is a little more experienced than you. Electrical problems are very hard to diagnose, but they can be done with a volt/ohmmeter, a lot of patience, and a meticulous hand.
Don't go buying a regulator if you can't afford to right off the bat. if you're short on money, you'll want to do more troubleshooting first. charge the battery fully, read the voltage coming directly off the battery, then start the bike, check the voltage at idle. it should be somewhere between 11 and 12.5 volts at rest or idle. then rev the engine a little,, like 2000 rpms and the voltage should climb to 14 or so volts. if this doesn't happen, there's definately a problem in your charging system, be it with your stator (alternator) or your rectifier/regulator.
these are just my experiences with bikes and i'mm not a mechanic.
sorry bud you've progressed past my level of troubleshooting. look into those relays, look for loose or corroded connectors somewhere, and look online into some motorcycle forums, specifically into an fzr forum. people on these bulletin boards are very helpful and usually have experience with your problems. good luck!!

and also my headlights aren't working anymore either
is this the same regulator as i need for my bike? i don't know anything about them. there is no pic so i just wondered if they're universal or what?
ok so now i've done some more trouble shooting and here are the results...bike is only firing on numbers 1 and 2 cyl. 3 and 4 are cold. no lights no speedo and no tach. thinking it may be a relay but idk which one controls all of the the items mentioned above
