are any of the warning lights or guages in the red zone? if the battery light is on it could mean the battery and or altenator went bad, is the charging guage in the red zone?, it could be the altenator. if the battery is good and charging system is working good you might have a draw on your battery, dicconsct the negative battery terminal over night when you park , replace it the next morning, if it starts right up look at anything you have installed recently like electronics or brake assist kits dissconect one by one until you find the culprit...
That battery light is a charging indicator. If the vehicle starts and runs, then the battery can't be the problem. The alternator isn't charging, replace the alternator. Have it tested first to be sure it isn't some other issue, but 99 times of a hundred, it is the alternator that causes that battery light to come on.
the red warning light comes on when there is low charging voltage test for charging voltage between the alternator and battery should be roughly 14 volts
it sounds like the system is'nt charging.if you have a volt meter you can check it with meter set on dc volts check the charging by putting the red lead to + & black to - on the battery.reading should be 13.2 - 14.5. .if it reads 12 - 12.8 its not charging. check the red wire on alternator to see if you have 12v good luck
If you get no red light for the battery charging system the charging system will not work. The indicator light initally excites the field to start charging.
First clean the battery terminals & their connection to the battery. Check to see if the alternator belt is tight. Once started, connect an amp. meter to thebattery terminals. Black to black, red to red. If the reading is over 13.2, alternator is charging. If it is not, change the alternator. If it is over 13.2, you may need a new battery. Have a load test done at any reputable automotive store. Hope this helps & if it does please do the right thing & recommend this advice. Thanks
have battery and alt checked battery may not be holding charge or alt may not be putting out charge auto stores such as auto zone and advanced do check for free and can check with them still in car
No, and a new battery may not cure the battery light being on. A low or no charge condition will turn the red battery light on, a bad battery will not. A low charge condition could have turn the check engine light on. I would have it checked before I would start replacing parts.
