2000 Suzuki 1500 Have problem!

Bike died before NO electrical at all, cked battery good, cked fuse box good. Had it towed to bike shop. They found the problem 'Main fuse. Cost me 120 bucks .. Today rode around even on highway no problem until it happened again. Called bike shop they sent a guy out slap another YEP! Main 30amp fuse in. Rode it home. NOW I'm worried about even riding it. Any ideas why this 'main fuse is blowing.
Thanks

The bike shop whr I took it cant find the problem nor did I. Ive cked everywhr. Rode all day yesterday and even going over railroad tracks ,and didnt blow a fuse. NOW that I know whr the main fuse is ,and have the tools to get to it, I'll just wait until she blows again. Then take it to another shop and spend the money it will cost to locate the problem. Thr not cheap any bike shop are out of this world. 65 bucks to even get it in the shop, then at 72 dollars in a hour to boot. OR something like that.

    ..

I'll post again if she blows and gets some more feed bk. Thanks for all who responded, T/y very much:

The fuse is blowing because either a wire is intermittently grounding that shouldn't be grounding, a loose connection is causing a spark larger than the fuse can handle, or something on the bike is drawing too much current through the fuse and it blows to protect the wiring form burning up. The shop did not find the problem, they just checked the fuse box and put in a new $1.25 fuse then raped you for $118.75 profit. And don't believe they spent two hours trying to find the problem. The fuse box is the first thing any mechanic would check. Putting in a 30amp fuse will get the bike running but don't be surprised when the wires start smoking as they heat up and burn the plastic insulation of the wires beneath the seat. I would check with another dealer as to what the correct main fuse amperage is from the factory and have them isolate the source of the problem. The shop you went to is incompetent and dishonest in my opinion. I would send an email to Yamaha motors USA, customer relations, and tell them your story. This shop makes them look bad, (assuming the shop was a Yamaha shop).

Yeah, you have a short somewhere in the electrical system, or your alternator is overcharging.

FI light on 2000 Suzuki TL 1000 R

First of all, you’re adding an aftermarket light assembly to your bike. Is it compatible? Remove battery terminals for a few minutes to see if it clears codes.

I have a 2000 suzuki intruder 1500 lc, battery just went dead and turns over very slow and then dies, I just bought a new battery today and the went dead after riding for a few minutes, once again it turns...

Sounds like you have a bad stator or rectifier. If you like to work on your own bike get a repair manual it will give you several test you can do. Charge the battery to full charge, take a volt meter and put in on the battery leads pos to plus and neg to ground. start the bike and watch the meter it should be putting out over 13 volts if it is not have your rectifier and stator checked by a pro. also check the compression valve cable it may be out of adjustment . I had one of those bike for 13 years a great bike

Bike has shut down while running.no ignition, lights or any indication of electrical power

Check the fuse box for blown fuses. There is probably a main fuse that turns off power to the entire bike. It is some times separate from the other fuses and is normally located on or near the starter solenoid.

Front decompression cable missing

Replace the battery if it has any age on it. Sometimes batteries can test out good but can still not have enough juice to do the job. I went through a bunch of parts and even rebuilt the starter and what fixed it was a new battery. Don't buy cheap batteries either, this is another problem. Just pay the extra and buy a good battery from a motorcycle shop.

Did you check the fuse at the starter relay?
This is main system fuse and not in the fuse panel with the other sub-system fuses.

Bike died during poker run

I would eliminate the possibility of bad gas first, considering you had just filled up. Move on to the other possibilities after eliminating the simple ones first. Battery, spark plugs, plug wires, other ignition problem, fuel delivery problem.

Fuse box

The main fuse is under the panel on the right side behind the forks and the rest of the fuses are in the crank case under the cover...where you fill the oil.
