How long has it been sitting? Stale fuel? Water condensation? Fuel is turned on? Check throttle plates for carbon junking in the throat of intake. Are plugs wet or tune up gapping large? When was last fuel filter change and air filter ...is it clogged also. When was the last time it ran well before the pop and no kick? Small things will get you, you miss them easy. Big things smack you silly.

You may be having trouble with a sticking intake valve. Remove the valve cover and spray some WD-40 onto the valve and spring. Try to operate the valve with your fingers to work it loose. Once the engine starts running, it should improve. You may need to change the oil. Good luck.
