Hi, Lee moisture, condensation, rain, or bike washing can make the bike run sluggish, not able to rev, and misfire. Older bikes, engine configuration, and exposed electrical components are at the front of the line for acting up. During the diagnostic procedure spray Electrical Contact Cleaner on corroded wire connectors/pins/sockets etc. and apply a liberal amount of "DIELECTRIC" grease to the mating harness/wire connectors. WD40 works great for eliminating suspect areas in your quest to find the real offending gremlin.
For additional insurance you can spray a High Temp Clear Coat on the most vulnerable areas it will work like Scotch Guard does on fabric. Fabricate a rubber or plastic splash guard to deflect water coming off the front wheel getting to the front cylinder spark plugs. The design should be adequate for its purpose with the least amount of airflow restriction to cool the cylinders. The usual suspects are:
1. Air filter soaked with water.
2. Water in the fuel system gas tank and carburetors.
3. Wet ignition coil packs.
4. Spark plug boots wore out or loose allowing water to enter.
5. Spark plug cables old and cracked check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Spark plug wells filled up and drain holes clogged.
7. Water in a wire harness that has exposed open ends and have a sharp bend or crimp allowing the liquid to form its own pool of potential threats to chaffed wiring.
8. Sensitive fuel tuners and downloaded ECM remaps may get confused with the abnormal cylinder temperature difference in a V-4 engine configuration.
9. Fuel injected bikes need to have the electrical connectors removed and sprayed with contact cleaner then blown dry and checked for continuity with a test light or multimeter, then treated with Dielectric Grease.
If your bike will not run right or even start after going through the checklist, despair not, letting it sit for a couple of days in a warm environment is like an eviction notice for the Gremlins and then your bike will be back to its old self. You can speed up this process by using forced air to dry out electrical connections.

Hi, Debbie it's probably electrical an ignition coil or CDI box is getting wet check all your wire connectors to these components for corrosion and clean as necessary also use some dielectric grease on the pins and after connector is back together, spray with Scotch Guard for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Derbi, despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. No suction on intake side of scooter

Hi, Anonymous a giant hole in the piston or a bent valve for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. Burgman 125

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Security alarm needs a reset.
6. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

50cc qmb139 64mm valves to 69mm now motor really tight wont start with starter burnt up 2 starters will kickstart with a fight

when reinstalling the head you most likely damaged the timing chain or it's bound up. another possible issue is it's put together wrong, i.e. cam gear, timing chain guides. without the spark plug in that engine should roll over by hand... Changing valve size isn't a part of the problem. If you swapped a different cylinderhead to do this then is it part of the problem ???

I rode my 50cc scooter in the rain, with no air filter.

If you allowed water to get into the air inlet, if a 2stroke, I suspect the crankcase seals are damaged. If 4 stroke check compression for damaged piston.

I'm looking at buying a 2004 Road King Custom with 8000 km on it...just wondering what I should look for as far as any troubles with the bike??that may be expected??

A 2004 RK with 8K on the clock shouldn't have anything wrong with it other than it may have been sitting for an extended period of time. In that case, the carb or the fuel injection system my need to be serviced with a thorough disassembly and cleaning. But, if the bike runs good at idle and highway speeds, I'd change the lubricatants and ride that bike. Something that it really needs.

Good Luck

Intermatic pool pump timer, time clock won't turn

Check your wiring, it sounds like it's not right. The clock needs 120 volts to run.
