My names Paul. I have a 2007 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic with just over 19,000 kms. It won't turn over, the starter just spins. Last year it made a clunking noise when I started it and turned it off. I replaced the starter. After doing so the starter was just spinning, it won't engage the engine. I replaced the starter clutch assembly yesterday. The engine has compression as I set the timing before removing the alternator cover. I bought a new battery, I charged it overnight. I installed the battery this morning, I tried to start the bike. The starter is just spinning, it's not engaging the engine. I'm at a loss as to what's happening. I was wondering if the problem could be the stater that's causing the bike not to start. I need help please thanks.

SOURCE: replaced starter relay and stater in yamaha 1100 2001 v star

Charge battery to full, start in neutral, still clicks? Bad ground, or bad connection. Jump starter solenoid with screwdriver, etc. if motor turns over the relay is bad. Chaz Moto DC
