How to Re-Wire the Yamaha Passing Lamps for 5W Running Lights The OEM passing lamps contain 2 bulbs, a 35W (in the upper portion) and a 5W (in the lower portion). The default behavior is for both lights to be wired together and be on or off at the same time, using the handlebar switch on the right control. Many people have re-wired the lamps so that the 5W lamp is on all of the time as a passing lamp, and the 35W lamp is then controlled by the handlebar switch.

  • The red wire that runs from the headlamp bucket connects to the 35W socket first then to the 5W socket. Cut the wire between the two sockets being sure to leave enough on the end connected to the 5W socket to solder a new wire to and tape up the end of the cut wire that is (still) connected to the 35W socket.
  • Run a new wire from the headlamp bucket to the wire connected to the 5W socket and solder/heat shrink the connection. I would recommend picking a wire color that it is not in use in the running light/tail light circuit or in the headlamp circuit so it is readily identifiable in the future (e.g. not brown, green, red, black, blue or yellow). That wire should be routed alongside of the red wire all the way into the headlamp bucket.
  • Solder the free end of the 5W wire to the blue wire (ie Y-spliced - the blue wire is the running light in your turn signal) coming from the respective side. I would recommend making the connection near the end of the run inside the headlamp bucket to give you plenty of slack in case you need it in the future (at least I did to be on the safe side).
  • At this point, reassemble and you're done. The 5W bulbs should come on as soon as the key is turned on. The 35W should come on after you start the engine and flip the passing lamp switch on.
  • You should not have to increase the size of the fuse for the taillight/running light circuit as it has more than 1 amp of headroom and you are only adding 2 x 5W (approx. 0.84 amp). I have had no problems with it.
NOTE: Connections do not have to be soldered. Splice connectors could be used, but soldering the connections is a much better long-term method.

Have an Ottlite Desk Lamp, Model 58337R--What bulb is used?

The OttLite desk lamp, Model 58337R, typically uses a specific type of bulb designed to replicate natural daylight and provide excellent illumination for reading or tasks. The bulb used in OttLite lamps is often a compact fluorescent light (CFL) or light-emitting diode (LED) bulb with the following specifications:

  1. Bulb Type: OttLite lamps typically use a specialized OttLite bulb, which is designed to mimic natural daylight and reduce glare and eyestrain.
  2. Wattage: The wattage of OttLite bulbs can vary, but they are typically in the range of 13 watts to 25 watts. Check the label or user manual for your specific model to determine the recommended wattage.
  3. Base Type: OttLite bulbs often have a pin-style base (often called a "PL" base), which is different from the screw-type bases commonly found in standard household bulbs. Make sure to select a bulb with the correct pin-type base to fit your lamp's socket.
  4. Color Temperature: OttLite bulbs are known for their specific color temperature, which is designed to provide a natural and bright light. Look for bulbs labeled as "daylight" or with a color temperature in the range of 5000K to 6500K for the most accurate color representation.
  5. Lumen Output: OttLite bulbs typically have a higher lumen output compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. This ensures adequate brightness for reading and tasks.
To find a replacement OttLite bulb for your Model 58337R desk lamp, you can visit OttLite's official website or contact their customer support. They can provide you with the exact bulb specifications and help you locate a compatible replacement bulb for your specific lamp model.

Additionally, you may be able to find OttLite replacement bulbs at local lighting stores or online retailers specializing in lighting products.

There are 3 light bulbs in a series circuit. If the voltage of the one bulb is 4 volts, what will the voltage of the other 2 bulbs be?

* 12 Volt system; 4 + (bulb 2 + bulb 3) = 12 volts
bulbs 2 and 3 will total 8 volts.
* Unusual set up for auto lights to be in series. the usual is the full 12 volts for each bulb.
* A series CKT would mean if one bulb failed, they all fail. (like old Christmas lights, you have to check them all to find the bad one.)
* Wattage of bulbs will have an effect on the brightness of each bulb. Higher wattage will affect the voltage drop across that bulb.
* if your trying to "drop" a higher voltage to a low voltage device. Then you need to take in account of the device "loading" to get the right voltage and power (amps) to also drive the device.
* You will also find that using a bulb as a voltage drop will change with the current draw. Higher draw will increase the voltage drop across the bulb (it will get brighter and lower the voltage on your device.)
* In series resistance was used (in old days) as a voltage drop for arc lights or even arc welding. If the line shorted then the resistance coil (nichrome wire) would take up the load, preventing the breaker from tripping out on a short.

What is the maximum wattage bulb that you can put in the Langston 60" ceiling fan light kit? It comes with 2 - 13 watt CFL bulbs. They are not bright enough, so we would like to make it brighter.

Get new LED lamps with low wattage and high brightness values. Additionally, the LED bulbs last a long time and use far less electrical energy than standard bulbs.

My right rear running light is not working on my 1999 ford countor but brake light dose what is it

Most of these lamps have TWO filaments. The first is a low wattage / brightness that comes on when the lights are turned on. The second is a higher wattage / brightness that comes on when you step on the brakes (and in some cars - use the turn signal).

Think of the lamp as one of those 50 - 100 - 150 watt three-way bulbs. You can burn out one wattage but the other still works. You'll simply have to replace the bulb that contains the bad running light filament. The fact that the brake filament still works doesn't matter.

Is it the correct bulb? Or recommended bulb? Try a higher wattage or lumens. I'm not sure what the lamps in the projectors are called, but check on the wattage and lumens.

REAR CIRCUIT BOARD IN THE TAIL LIGHTS FAILS AFTER A MONTH OR SO

Make sure you're using the proper light bulbs in the sockets. If you've installed different / higher wattage lamps than the ones they're designed to use - it can cause this problem.

Have 03 mustang brake light switch went out 3 times within a short time of each other, they replaced it at no charge each time but why does it go out so frequently, as a matter fact it went out again today

Hi, because there is no relay in the circuit, all the lamp power passes thru that switch. Recommend you check the stop light bulbs to make sure they are the low wattage bulbs specified for your car. The higher wattage bulbs will fit in, but they draw too much current. Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Can i use 55 watt bulbs in the driving lights on a 2006 boulevard c90t

If you use higher-wattage lamps in place of the factory ones, you run the risk of blowing fuses. You can calculate how many watts the fuse will handle based on P=IE, that is, watts = amps x volts. So if the factory lamps use 20W bulbs, 2x20=40, 40W=3.3Ax12V. 2x50=100, 100W=8.3Ax12V. So 50W lams will draw 5 more amps. You should not use higher amperage fuses in place of what the factory has installed because you can cause damage to your electrical system. Calculate the rest of the lamps in the circuit using the P=IE formaula and if it falls below the fuse's capacity, go for it.

Hope this helps, e-mail if you have questions,

Need a higher bulb than 100w, Do they make them for this tv set?

You will burn up the plastic components in your television if you go with a higher wattage. The cooling system is designed only to handel the specified wattage. Also your set will shut down doe to increased internal temp.I do not reccomend using a higher wattage. You may have dust build up the optics of the light engine or a dirty colorwheel.LG made optics are notorius for getting dirty.Time for a professional cleaning.

MAXIMUM WATTAGE FOR FAN LIGHTS??????

those bulbs are candelabra type. if they came with the fixture then I wouldn't go to a higher wattage bulb. the sockets are probably bakelite and mounted with the base up so any heat off the lamps would be directed upwards. higher wattage bulbs may shorten the lifespan of the sockets. bakelite is a modified plastic. it won't melt but it will get brittle.
