Question about Harley Davidson Motorcycles
Yes, I'm helping my friend on his 81 Sportster. It has an alternator swap and no points now trying to figure out how to align all 4marks on the cam and crank gears. @
Hi, Thomas the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee from $7 to $15 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download view and print.
To download your Harley manual for viewing or printing please click on the blue links below and for more specific information or questions at no charge please feel free to contact me at email@example.com. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

it is a cvvt unit i believ it has to be loaded counter clockwise you should also have the cams locked with the special tool

theres a reflash program that needs to be done on these cars, because of extended crank time and cam / crank syhcronizing out, start there, also i had one with same code and found that aftermarket cam sensors dont work, installed dealer part and had the updated reflashing done and solved the problem.

Hi, the cam shaft has a hole on the hub that should be at approximately 12o'clock a red mark should be visible through the hole. the cramk shaft sprocket has a marking to align with the mark along the case, the keyway should be at about 3o'clock. be sure you at TDC on cylinder 1.
You need to get the car repair manual if you want to see the diagram or call auto zone...

Hi there:I dont have this diagram for 2S-ELC, 3S-FE and 5S-FE Engines, but pay attention at this... Remove any oil or water on the idler pulley and keep it clean. If the old timing belt is being reinstalled, make sure the directional arrow is facing in the original direction and that the belt and crankshaft gear matchmarks are properly aligned. On 2S-ELC engines, make sure that the Matchmark on the oil seal retainer and center hole of the small hole on the camshaft timing pulley are aligned.
Hope this helps.
