What is wrong with these parts? The speedo cable should be changed for a new one if broken. Is the bulb in the rear light OK? If so, is there any electricity in the socket? If not, any fuse blown? If not, you have to trace the cable to se if any connection is loose.

Gentlemen, I suggest if you really wanna help anyone? You should know what your talking about!! Do your homework first, People who give the wrong information to others should be charged with a crime,And they should call it "The Criminaly stupid society" Now.... Clearly the problem is in your sending unit coming from the rear ,right side of the transmission. This will resolve the problem. Next?

SOURCE: how to replace rear shocks on 2003 bmw 325i

You have to take the trunk liners off of both sides. There will be 3 13mm nuts on each side for the shocks, and under the car is a 16 or 17mm bolt that has to be removed. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1984 Porsche 944 Speedo Cable

might be the sensor on the gearbox that is faulty or wire is damaged and going to earth.

Testimonial: "Hi Thanks, but its a 1984 Porsche 944 with speedo cable (mid 1985 they put in the sensor)to left front wheel (Like VW Beetle)no sensor or anything -all mechanical. It must be something simple (like me) but can't find any problems, all cable and fittings seem perfect. Can only think it might be something in the hub itself - but not sure what should be in there.... "

Abs pump and speedometer doesn't work bmw k 1200 gt 2005

Hi, the abs pump is a known problem on BMW motorbikes, it can be deleted but probably better with it, used/second hand would be the cheapest cure but as its a common fault may be impossible to find, I would google a repair kit to see if one is available, but may be a professional job I think. As for the speedo fix I would check the wiring is all ok including all connections , a cheap fix I have used is a good quality bicycle speedo and will pass MOT test in the U.K. Hope this helps.

Problems with bmw r1200gs

If your speedo still works, it means the rear sensor is fine. Have you had the front wheel off lately?

If so, check the wiring to the front sensor just above the left brake caliper. Sometimes the cable is removed from the the clip and is then worn away buy the edge of the brake disk. This will cause an intermittent problem affecting both ABS and TC.

The speedometer n my 1999 Sportster 1200 has stopped registering. How do I fix it?

This depends on whether it is an electronic speedo or a mechanical speedo.
The electric speedo has a sensor near the rear of the engine. Sometimes a very small piece of metal will get stuck on the end of the sensor and the speedo will stop working. Remove the bolt holding the sensor into the engine case and carefully pull the sensor out. Wipe it off and reinstall it. If the speedo still does not work, it's probably something in the speedo itself.

On a mechanical speedo, a cable from the front wheel drives the speedo. The cable or the speedo drive unit may be bad. To check the cable and drive, lift the bike off the ground, disconnect the cable from the rear of the speedo. Turn the front wheel and see if the cable is turning. If it is, it's probably alright. I'd still pull the cable out of it's housing and lubricate it with some grease. If the cable is turning, the cable and drive unit is alright. The speedo may be broken.

My 2003 1200 gt warning light comes on when I touch the brakes either front or rear and stays on. If I don't touch brakes it doesn't come on. the fluid in the rear reservoir got down to the min level and I...

Rene - the manual recommends having the break system checked immediately if the reservoir drops below MIN. It has happened to me once were the warning light was staying on and after carefully riding it down the street in my subdivision the warning light went away.

However if it does not go out after the self diagnostic - there is a possibility the ABS is not functioning and you are only left with a RESIDUAL BRAKING FUNCTION which helps slow the bike but not safe for riding. I would take it to the dealer if the warning stays on and for safety sake -- have it towed.
