Bike won't start after it was running....

Hi there, I got a kawasaki z900 2017 and it has been a great winter rider, has once left it outside with the cover on for over a week and still started right away. However, it is not the case today. so basically I was about to swap the windscreen, and before I did anything I started the bike just to make sure the battery is still good. I let it run for roughly 30 minutes and had a cup of coffee, then turned it off and did my windscreen job. During the process, I lost my Allen key so I wobbled the head a couple times while it was off and on the stand, nothing too harsh. After I am done, I realized it won't start. The first time, the display is partially on with no meters but only engine/gear indicators on, and I can hear the airy sound from the engine, but it won't start. So I pull off the key, and repeated the process. This time the display is good, but the starter relay is making a continuous clicking sound. Tried to bridge the two ends of the relay and hope I can cheat the system, no luck. Key off/on another time, the relay doesn't make noise, but a slight clicking noise is generated from the terminal, pretty much the same as the sound of when the turning indicator is on. Can someone tell me what is going on with my bike? is the battery discharged or dead? is the relay bad? is the connector loose? or is it something else? Please help me!!! Thanks a lot!!!

While it is possible there is bad battery connections or a relay your description is typical of a discharged battery or likely a battery with a bad cell.

Remove and charge the battery and hope that is the end of your problem but if it isn't, replace the battery.

SOURCE: Insert key, turn to start, dash lights go out, no

Take a good look at the rear bumper area and wiring around it.

There are recorded cases the bumper bracket is cutting into the fuel pump and fuel level sending unit.

Hi,
Sounds like the solenoid relay is stuck up and shorted your starter! Better check the starter, pull it down and look if the bendix drive is still intact, upon driving and engine is running the bendix drive is still engage, thus it might have broken and loosen up.
If you can't repair it, a mechanic can certainly repair it, hope that bendix drive is still okay, if damage is already done, just replace that part. The solenoid that gives power and pushes the bendix drive is at fault, better check that too, it is the first one that malfunctioned and damages the bendix.
Hope that helps you out!

We took my kawasaki stx1200f out had old fuel started off good then lost power an started blowing white smoke

water in the fuel, you buy some stuff to resolve fuel issues i think call fuel restore. the stuff red or off pink color add to the fuel.
once do that i would drain fuel tank or
run high octane booster, you need to remove all water from the bike or you will have problems bike, cylinder, head, fail plug, running poorly until you remove all forms of water in the engine area and fuel areas. it depends on what you place the bike value or fun/toy
or professional rider

Bike started sputtering espeacially when cold after sitting thru the winter Would like to know how to change the fuel filter to see if thats the problem

Most likely the problem is not the fuel filter. Since the bike sat through the winter, it is probably fuel gummed ports/jets. This is happening more often especially with the ethanol blend of fuel. In the last few weeks, as riders bring their bikes out of winter storage, there has ben many with the same problem as yours. I recommend pouring at least 1/2 can of SeaFoam in the tank, lock down the front brake and rock the bike back and forth to mix the additive. Once it is mixed, crank the engine and run at high idle for a couple minutes. Let it set for an hour or so to give the SeaFoam time to work. Crank the bike, and ride normally. It should clear up. If it doesn't clear up in an hour or two, you may have water in the carb bowl that will have to be drained.

Fuel pump location

If the carbs are leaking fuel then the float pins inside are not sealing ad the weight of the fuel in the tank is pushing out. your bike should not have a pump. it should be gravity fed. if your bike sat for a long time and you did not drain the carbs before putting it in storage the fuel goes stale and creates a varnish like residue inside the carbs. unfortunately the only way to clean it is to disassemble and clean them. not something a casual rider should attempt. it is something that should be left to a mechanic. removing them from the bike could save you some money, but not much. taking the bike in to a bike shop is your best bet if you have never done carburator work before. the mech can clean, reassemble and sync. usuall cost around 300-350 parts and labor at a good shop. I used to run a motorcycle service department. if you can do it yourself great. just dont get in over your head. it is harder for someone to pick up where you left off working from a bag full of peices the to be the one who took it apart and remember where everything goes. good luck

I winterized my bike last winter. I drained the fuel tank on my zx 750h. ran the motor to empty lines and now i refilled the tank but it wont start. what am i missing. It fired and ran for abou 10 seconds....

try new spark plugs. and for next winter you're better off not draining everything. best thing is add some fuel stabilizer and run it a few minutes once in a while. empty lines tanks and carbs attract moisture.
