No power at 3000 rmp

Hi, on a trip recently my Freeland TD4 (BMW) suddenly lost power at around 3000 rpm. Foot flat, change down - no difference. At around 2500 it kicked in and stayed in until I take my foot off the pedal and then it sits on around 3000 rpm and no more.
It seems if I get it up to 3500 rpm, the problem goes way again...

It's almost like a governor is holding it to 3000 rpm?

Full service history and 103 000 km on the clock.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Marc

When driving my 1997 Audi A 4 1.8t there is a loss of power around 3000 rpm, what could be causing the issue?

run the fault codes and look for a problem area in the vane actuator of the turbo
it could be a sensor problem or a MAP sensor problem
this is indicated by the pressures being generated or not generated by a turbo generating pressure from the throttle opening on acceleration or held at constant speed

Could be the transmission.Make sure it is full of fluid. Hold your foot on the brake and give it some gas with the other foot. If you feel a miss, then it is a miss fire.

Seems like we need a tune up . Change the plugs wires, air filter fuel filter. Is the check engine light on. If so have the codes pulled on the car.
