The cooling fan will not come on. Tested fan separately, it works. I by passed the heat sensor as Clymer suggested and ground the heat sensor wire to the frame to try to make the fan come when the ignition was turned on but it did not come on. Jumped the Fan Motor ''+'' lead from the entrance point into the Junction Box straight to battery ''+'' by passing Fan relay in Junction Box and the fan came on. I'm think Junction Box is bad but how do I make sure before I spend $100 on a new box?

Use the process of elimination, you know the fan is good, now you should test the heat sensor. when the bike is cold the heat sensor should not let power past it to the fan, but when the bike is warm then the sensor should then let the power through, so test it either with a test light or an ohm meter! If the sensor is bad then thats the problem if not then check the wiring diagram to make sure there is nothing else on the same circut! If you need further help just drop me a line!

Clymer should be able to help you confirm good/bad. Keep the temp sensor jumped out and then try to bypass relay?

My car is overheating because the fan is not working. Do I need to replace the fan, change the coolant fuse, or run a wire so that my fan can come on?

Give the fan a direct 12v and ground with jumper wires. If it works prob just a relay if not prob needs a fan.

No, the fans have separate relays. You have to use the wiring diagram to sort it out. The pcm turns on the cooling fan relay with a ground signal on a purple/black wire when the temp sensor signal rises too high.

Check for power and ground directly at the cooling fan connector (the red and black wires). You can either jumper across the relay or with the key on, disconnect the coolant temperature sensor (2 wire connector near the thermostat housing, usually yellow and black). This should override the computer and energize the fans. If you have good power and ground at the fan connector, then the fan motor is no good. If you don't have power and ground there, it's a wiring issue from the relay, the relay itself, or no power to the cooling fan circuit (fuse).

Cooling fan won't come on, have tested fan and replaced temperature sensor.

First question to you is.. Have you checked the wiring or ECU codes?

check the cooling fan switch on the back of the block, unplug the connector and jumper.
2 wires, turn ignition on and fan should come on...

if it does-----replace the cooling fan switch
if it doesnt----- go to the cooling fan relay on the pass side inner fender
panel behind the headlight and check it, besides the fan itself and the fuse, those are the only things in the system.

Cooling fan fault on 1989 Cadillac Seville

Replace coolant fan module. Its underneath the hood lock. It fixed mine. Be sure to hook up the fans correctly because you can get them mixed up. Never wire the fans up where they will run all of the time. The car will use more fuel and it will not heat up quickly, this will damage oxygen sensor. Also the ac will not work right as all of this is controlled through the BCM.
