Check you are using the correct key Check the key is inserted properly If the lock barel is frozen then squirt some lubricant in there. My locksmith uses "Lanox"
1. Tell your dealer your Chassis No. for key replacement in their file
2. Try your local locksmith to make a duplicate
3. Replace the whole ignition key cylinder.

You can try contacting the Kaw dealer. Also I'd do some calling around to different locksmiths; $150 sound a bit high but I guess it all depends where you live
