I suggest any good synthetic oil at 50 to 1.. remember when that was built they used straight 30weight. modern oils are better for sure. does it not have an oil pump??

as i said any good synthetic oil should be good to use. many years ago i have a 68 yr2c 350..back then i used spectro oils after removing the oil pump. fun bikes to have for sure. ride safe and watch the twitchy handling of these things!!

Thanks! Another question... I'm in the middle of restoring an RD350 and an RD400, standard bore in both bikes. What's a good compression? Both bikes have K&N air pods.

130 or better is good. its a 2 stroke so they aint built too tight. pods....they will cause you problems in a crosswind as youll find out. i suggest you find a good message board to join for these bikes as im sure theyre out there. i just sold my last bike for now a 1978 kawasaki kz650b. someday ill get another bike just not yet.

Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives.

Use Two Stroke ENGINE oil in the pump. If not doing an automatic oil pump the mix the gas and oil 32 to 1. That equals 4 ounces of two stroke ENGINE oil to one gallon of gas. NEVER use motor oil in the gas. Only two stroke engine oil.

SOURCE: what fuel does my Echo

2 stroke means that it is a gas mixture. 4 stroke means that there is no gas oil mixture.

Fuel is VERY flammable. Use extreme care when mixing, storing or handling, or serious personal injury may result.

A 50:1 ratio with 89 Octane fuel can be used in all ECHO 2-stroke equipment, provided the oil is ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FC/FD certified. ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FC/FD oil must be used with a mid-grade (89 octane) or premium gasoline in all 1997 and newer engines.

A 50:1 Ratio = 1 US Gal. 89 Octane + 2.6 fl. oz. ECHO POWER BLEND OIL

Echo Power Blend Universal 2-Stroke Oil can be used in all of our 2-cycle air-cooled equipment ever made. You may also use this oil in any other brand of 2-cycle air cooled equipment, but it should always be mixed at the 50:1 ratio whether or not it was a 32:1 or 16:1 etc. machine. This oil is the highest quality 2-cycle oil on the market today. There is no need to have more than 1 tank of fuel for your 2-cycle equipment any more.

I have a 1972 Yamaha R5,made into a three wheeler(ATC).What is the correct fuel/oil mixture??

The R5 had Autolube....which is automatic oil injection....no gas/oil mixing....there was an oil pump in the crankcase, with one cable from throttle running to the pump so pump stroke varied with throttle opening.....the oil tank for the injection oil was under the seat on the right side.

Oily watery stuff coming out off the exhaust, oil pump is set ok

is this bike a yamaha rd 350 twin cylinder 2 stroke? if so, its air cooled and you should not be getting a ltr of water.. but it is common for them to have a "oily" fluid come out the exhaust because it is a 2 stroke. but not alot. it comes from the engine not burning all the oil gas mix. does the engine spit and sputter? make sure there is no water in the tank, make sure the air filter is clean and buy hotter spark plugs. also adjusting the fuel air mixture may help. hope this helps...

Where is the 2 stroke oil tank on a 74 yamaha rd 350.

You are confusing yourself. Gearbox oil does go in via the dipstick. Engine oil goes in under the seat. The engine oil they are speaking of is called " TWO STROKE ENGINE OIL ". It is designed to mix with the fuel by being pumped into the carb intake system along with the fuel. Any motorcycle shop, auto shop, lawn equipment shop, gas station and many grocery stores and convience stores will have this oil.
