Just got one as a gift. Need to know scheduled maintenance. Type and amount on oil. Type oil filter, fuel filter. Lube points. Everything to take good care of the bike.

Since you got the bike as a gift I would go to a kawi dealer or online and get a full maintance manual as they are not expensive and come in very handy for many reasons.

What type of oil is best for my 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan classic? How much does it hold with a new filter? Where is the drain plug located?

Synthetic is best but also $$$$$$. Just buy your oil from dealer, mine holds a hair under 4 qts (i use 4 qts) with filter. drain plug is under motor assy (bottom)

I have a 2001 Vulcan Classic 1500 and I need to know exactly what type of oil and weight of oil I need to use for a complete oil & filter change?

Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. If in a hot area like Texas or New Mexico go with 20w50. Definitely change the oil filter.
