Filling the main gas tank does not seem to refill the reserve tank. Is there a separate cap?

There is only one tank to fill on your bike, your getting confused by the reserve. The reserve is just on the fuel tap itself. It has three positions, on , off and reserve. In the on position your fuel tap will be able to drink about 90% of your fuel tank and then it wont be able to drain anymore, then you must turn your fuel tap to the reserve position and it will be able to drink rest of your tank approx 10% that is left. So next time you fill up at a petrol station make sure your fuel tap is set to on, then when your bike starts to splutter out of fuel you can turn your fuel tap to reserve and get yourself to the petrol station to fill up, making sure you then turn your tap to on again. If you keep running out on the reserve it can cause debris in your tank to clog your carb up.
hope this helps

The petcock valve is what controls what is called the reserve tank. As mentioned above, there is only one tank. What the valve does is prevents the fuel from draining all the way to the bottom of the tank. When you turn the valve to reserve it allows the fuel to drain all the way tothe bottom.

Reserve fuel tank question...

Hi,
Check that fuel valve, pull out that output fuel hose, turn the valve to "reserve", if fuel flows, that means it works( fuel valve ), if no fuel flows, that valve has STUCK valve flow.

Most bike problem is in that fuel valve.

Hope that helps!

I have a 1997 Cbr Honda Blackbird. The fuel **** was in the off position and the bike ran ok for months. Why would the **** be in this position and would turning it to the on position pose a problem or...

Chances are what you are calling the "off" position is actually the "Reserve" position. Fuel valves usually have two inlet points. The top inlet section feeds the "On" position. The bottom inlet feeds the "Reserve" position. When the gas level in the tank gets lower than the "On" inlet, you must switch to the "Reserve" inlet to continue riding until you run out of gas or refill the tank. Please rate my answer. Motorcycle, Honda VT1100 Series 1995-2007: Can you refill a dry radiator throught the overflow tank or do you have to remove the gas tank to get to the main fill cap?

Hi allways fill the radiator on closed cooling systems the small expansion tank is just there for a bit of extra capacity if needed if you can get to an upper coolant hose instead fill it from there but ideally at the radiator cap the start the engine and at idle let it warm up until the thermostat opens and the top hose gets hot topping up the whole time it needs it then put the cap back on and fill the expansion tank to the correct level let it cool down and recheck the level when cold top up if needed

How to top up the coolant

With the engine cold take off the radiator cap and top off the radiator. Then locate the reserve tank under the fake tank shroud and fill it to the full mark with 50/50 Dexcool or any non-silica formula anti-freeze. Do not use any anti-freeze that has scrubbing particles in it . It can shorten the life of your water pump seal.

How can I get old fuel out of the reserve tank on '82 Honda Magna 750? I hope to not need to remove tank.

Hi,
Just disconnect the main fuel hose from the carb rail. Ensure that you have switched the fuel **** to reserve and this will allow the reserve tank to empty. Not all the fuel is going to come out unless you blow air into the fuel tank filler, this will then get a large percentage of the fuel out. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

What is the effect of overfilling my honda super 4 gas tank? I think I overfilled it because it is leaking out of the gas regulator switch. I didnt fill it to the rim but I filled it above the visible...

Regulator switch? Do you mean the ON/OFF/RESERVE fuel valve???

Overfilling the tank will not cause a leak at the valve. You need to tighten the valve if it is leaking there.

Positions "Reserveswitch"

The On position is where you run the bike after filling the tank. The Res position is when you are almost out of fuel and the motor stutters you turn the switch it it and that will give you about 1/2 a gallon of gas left in the tank to get to a gas station and refill. Pri is for priming the carbs only. If you have ran out of gas after using the reserve fuel you switch it to this position to fill the float bowls with fuel. Do this for only 30 seconds and switch it back to On position.

Derbi Cross city 125 Fuel Issues

When you have it on main there is a little pipe that sticks higher up into the gas tank and once the gas get down below the top of the pipe it will start to make the engine sputter and you have to flip the lever over to reserve so the rest of the gas can be used. But once you have used up all the gas in the tank you will be empty. So when ever you flip it to reserve you will only have about a 1/2 gallon of gas left to get you to a gas station to get it filled back up. No there is not a separate tank in side the main tank.
