you have a short somewhere in the ignition line. check all connections at coil, check for worn spark plug cables grounding on block.

Have 2002 Vulcan 1600 Drifter. The tail and brake lights will not work. They were working rear turn signals do. It blew the fuse twice, now it is not blowing the fuse but still no lights. Got power to the fuse and leaving it not arriving at the rear light. The plug in,before it goes inside the rear fender, what color wires are what so I can check if things are arriving there O.K.?

Getting those fuse bricks out can be tricky. I have a 2000 800b ( classic ).
I had to remove the battery, then there is plenty of room to slide those bricks out towards the front of the bike.
Might want to pick up a manual. Lots of good info in there, and worth every penny the first time you try anything. It would also have a diagram and diagnostic for your lights being out.

SOURCE: Vulcan 1500 classic starter
very simple to replace only 2 wires i believe they r just tight to get to and usually in a bad spot and just usually 2 or 3 bolts and it drops when u pull iy off look and see if the gears inside looksgood and not wore out
