I have a aprilia atlantic 500, can I change tha brake lever switches without removing handlebar covers

has any work been carried out recently?, maybe a wire is touch the metal frame. the charging system could be over charging, have the voltage regulator & charging system checked so many possiblities ..

Your bike should idle at about 900 rpm when hot or around 800-1100 rpm. at idle. Set the idle speed by adjusting the idle stop screw on the side of the carb. Too low of an idle speed setting will make for hard starting. Also check the throttle cable adjustment.
