How to treat bee sting swelling

Make sure the person isn't allergic to bee stings first. Severe reactions may need epinephrine, for example with an Epi-Pen. Remove the stinger, wash the area with soap and water, place ice or cold compress over the affected area. It can take two or three days for the pain to dissipate or disappear. Also the pharmacy caries a Bite and Sting Relief swab or wipe. This product does help provide temporary pain relieve.

My hand is red and swollen from bee sting. I am putting ice on it. What other remedies

This is a really old (almost) forgotten remedy for bee stings. It probably sounds impractical considering modern medical advances, but it works. Dip the heads of about a dozen wooden matches in a small amount of water to dissolve the tip to make a paste and apply this to the bee sting site.

A child of 5 bee sting on the lip

The sting itself is fairly obvious and is now probably gone if you can't see it, but do take care to look around inside the mouth. So close to the mouth and throat is a concern though. If you are able to access one without undue expense, take the child to an emergency dept or doctor and watch carefully for any signs of swelling in the tongue, throat and airway.

Also ask about the possibility of sensitisation and allergic reaction to future stings. All the best with this.

How do you treat a bee sting?

Bee stings can be very uncomfortable and painful and for some people who are allergic to them - very dangerous.

The first thing to do is to remove the sting as quickly as possible. You can use your fingers or tweezers. It doesn't matter how it's done.

People who know they are allergic to bee stings should carry an Epipen with them and if they should be given it straight away and not wait for symptoms of an allergy to appear.
If the person is having an anaphylactic reaction, emergency services should be called immediately as this can be life threatening.
