2015 Moto Guzzi v 7 special is rough idling and exhaust pipe is heating up to red hot?

Only have 455 miles in the bike....problem started after filling up on premium gas at BP gas station. I was thinking it was water in the gasoline but how and why would midway down the left exhaust pipe get so red hot?

Could be running way to lean and the fuel may have too much alcohol or water or the injectors may be clogged/restricted.

Testimonial: "Thank for the response. Would adding a antifreeze dryer to the gasoline help solve? Looking for a solution. TY"

It may be worth a shot. Try that and a good injector cleaner.

Red hot manifold /exhaust pipe indicates fuel still burning when the exhaust valve is open
indicates incorrect valve timing , excessive fuel, injector problems
The bike should still be under warranty so take it back to a service dealer and have it fixed under warranty

Sounds like you may need to inspect and replace your fuel line from front to rear. no other reason for your problem.

SOURCE: Gasoline pump at gas station keeps turning off

There is a vent valve located near the fuel tank. The vent valve is part of the EVAP emission system. If the valve is obstructed or failed, air will not escape while refueling.
Has the service engine light come on at all?

I have a Honda xr 100 dirt bike when running exhaust seems to get red hot in front pipe on bike is there a problem

It sounds like the carb just needs to be adjusted. If the mixture screw (air/fuel) is too far in, it will cause it to run lean/hot. The high idle is also just an adjustment often cured when you get the air/fuel mixture set correctly. Back the mixture screw out in 1/4 turn increments (turn left) until it bogs a bit. Then turn SLOWLY to the right until it just starts to smooth out. Run it a bit there and see if it helps cool the head pipe down & lowers the idle. It really sounds like you currently have a lean condition.

2005 ultra classic completely stock. the motor seems to be running fine but it feels like its running very Hot after only a short time. last night i noticed that the "Y" pipe from the rear...

The late model engines do run hot. This is because they are set to burn a very lean mixture. Personally, I'd take the bike to a shop that has a dyno and an Exhaust Gas Analyzer. Have them run the bike up and give you their opinion of the what it needs. Also, here's a site that has something about how hot the bikes run these days. http://www.nightrider.com/

Hi, I'm owner of 2002 Moto Guzzi V11 Sport Naked My mechanic dismantle the bike for sandblasting the engine due to famous problems with this model paint. He don't note the adjustment of rear wheel arm...

Hi there.
Often the adjustment of the rear swing-arm, particularly for bikes like yours, requires a special tool, or knowledge of the correct adjustment angle.
A Moto Guzzi dealer would be the best person to speak to regarding this. They may even be able to tell you over the phone what the angle and distance is, and possibly how to adjust it.
Otherwise, taking the bike to them might be the best option.

Hello i hav a v1100 guzzi, the problem is one exhaust is turning bright red when its running,it was ok when i bought it,its only one side, any ideas wha might be the problem.

You are running lean on one side. I would recommend going to a repair shop ASAP and have the bike tuned before any engine damage can ouccure. Hope this helps.

Our Moto Guzi Nevada is surging all the time and has been back to a dealer several times and they cant find out what it wrong with it. · Inspect for running rough etc + put on axone scan tool + test...

I am not a Moto Guzi mechanic but in the world of Japanese bikes the problem would be trash in the carb partially blocking the main jet and / or internal fuel circuits. Tighten all fittings, carb to manifold as air leaks could be contributing to the problem. If your bike has fuel injection, have the fuel pump checked. Be sure the gas tank venting is not plugged whether carb or injection. Check and clean the filter screens on the pickup tubes inside the gas tank. Be certain the exhaust pipes are clear of obstructions. An internal collapse inside an exhaust pipe can restrict air flow. The bike can not run properly if it can't get rid of burned gasses. Remove the exhaust pipes briefly to eliminate the exhaust system as a problem. I guess I should mention the obvious, how clean is the air filter? Bikes gotta breathe in and out too. If these ideas don't help, just re-post the problem and perhaps someone else has an idea. Best wishes.

I want to build a two into one exhaust system for my 91 moto guzzi 750 targer, need to know how big the chamber after the collector has to be. Want sound and power. Do I need to increase jet size?

Here's the basic rules: The pipe only needs to be as big as any one pipe.Since you only fire on one cyl. at a time. However most pipe builders will make it 1.5 times the size to make it flow better. If it flows better than stock ( which it will ) you'll need to increase jet size. I usualy go .005 bigger and it always seems to work out about right nomatter what the bike. (k&n air filters will help it all flow better also).

These are infamous for side stand switches that allow the bike to shut off and more importantly not start when side stand is down. Even worse is that it can activate even with side stand up. So either pull it off and short it out or clean up the connections.

Valve maintenance

Valves are actuated only recently at Moto Guzzi by an overhead camshaft. Shim under bucket design precludes consumer adjustment due to shim kits price/availability. But it can be done! Not sure what the interval is, usually needs it between 12k miles, and 20k miles. If you hear noticeable tapping that doesn't quiet after warmup, it is time to check clearances. Good Luck, and nice bike, by the way. TT

Hot Pipes

I am already turning heads. My question is about the pipes getting hot. Mine appears to have a type of guard but I can still feel the heat through my jeans. Any ideas? I want to be able to take my daughter for short rides but am afraid she might get her leg burned. I know I will have tons of other questions soon. ThanksI have the heat shield on my bike, and it has made a world of difference. Is yours installed in the right place? When I first put mine on, I could still feel heat, then I moved it forward on the pipe, and it works great now.,,,
