1999 996 carrera speedo and tach does not work(analog and digital

I have a 1999 996 Carrera, and I started the vehicle and first, digital speedo meter does not lit up. Right after that, analog speedo and tach were jumping all over the place and it is not operating at all (both digital and analog). Seems like fuel guage, oil pressure guage is working but just speedo and tach is not working at all. I checked fuse, and it looked fine. Do I need a new instrument panel?

None of the digital screen (odometer, clock and etc, which is located at the bottom of the cluster) does not lit up at all, so I thought it maybe a fuse, but seems like all fuses are fine, so do I need a new cluster?

I have Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4 2001 And no simcard is working?

If no sim card is working in the audio unit it is more than likely an audio unit fault but to be 100% sure it needs to go on a Porsche diagnostic machine and read out faults. This is because the audio unit is a module called PCM which controls all the entertainment systems on that vehicle. Also the aerial need to be check but can also be done at the same time

1999 Carrera 4 hasn't been driven for about one month. Now it won't start but you can hear this clicking noise from the back. Lights, windows and radio all work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Make sure your battery is fully charged and all battery connections are clean and tight. If the vehicle still makes the clicking noise when you try to start it, then it is your starter solenoid.

Change tire sizes from 265/40 to 265/35 and 225/40 to 225/35

When resizing tires, the best method is +1,-1 or -1, +1. That is, if you add to the width one size (i.e. 235 -> 245), then you need to go down one aspect ratio (i.e. 40 -> 35). So if you run 225/40ZR18 tires and want to keep your speedo accurate, 235/35ZR18 works for a "plus one" and 215/45ZR18 will work for a "minus one" change. This way, your impact on speedometer accuracy is minimal.

Hope this helps,
matt

Odometer/Trip Meter Not Owkring

it's most likely the cluster if one function works and the other doesn't. And, you likely have an electronic vehicle speed sensor that sends a signal to your analog cluster that then dispays your speed and odometer.
