2006 TN'G Low Boy 150 Logo

So, my 150cc Chinese scooter has been acting like the battery in really low. I have been kick starting it for a couple of weeks. Today, the kick start level disengaged so now I'm really stuck. I got a battery charger, but according to the meter it's fully charged. I let it charge a little anyway and put it back on. Starter turns weakly for a second or two, then clickclick, then nothing. The headlamp stays on. Do I need a new starter or is something else going on?

Yeah, the battery was off the scooter, I might let it trickle charge for a while just to be sure...

I was actually thinking about trying a car battery and cables. Wasn't sure if that was safe. It's ok to do? With engine off I assume?

    Thanks a lot.

Good to know.. I'll try that in the morning and then maybe I'll know more what I'm dealing with. Thanks for the advise. I need to keep this thing running at least until I buy my new Aprilia in Oct!

    Best,
    Justin Broce

Did you remove the battery from the scooter before charging? The scooter circuitry may be giving the charger false readings.

Can you try to jump start the scooter using a car and some jumper leads? If it starts that way, then your battery is dead.

Hi. Absolutely fine to use a car and jumper cables as long as your scooter battery is 12 volts. You can even try to start the scooter witht the jumper cables, if it starts, then it is likely the battery.

My 150cc scooter starter motor running as soon as I connect the battery even while the ignition key is off.... I changed the relay but it didn't help.. what is the problem?

The starter solenoid is somehow grounding out.
Something is touching the positive and negative on the solenoid.
Usually you touch the negative and positive on the solenoid and it will start to turn over however it won't start.
