SOURCE: bike is completely dead
Could be the relay switches such as the flasher relay etc. Wiring could also be the problem. A shorted positive wire on the chassis (negative) can have a negative effect on all the other circuits.

Both cables firmly connected? Good ground? Cables connected properly (+ to start solenoid, - to the frame?) Is there power at the battery? You measured the battery with a Volt/Ohm meter? What about the solenoid? Have power on the battery side?
Couple things for you to check. Currently, the website is not notifying we volunteer question catchers of comments posted to questions ... so, if none of this works, please reformulate your quesiton with the latest information and repost.

SOURCE: Starting fault
There is also a safety switch on the clutch lever that could give the same symptoms.
Another thing to check is the fuse block that has a starter relay built in (hidden) above the fuse compartment. My D5 has the same symptoms and this is the problem. If I keep the starter button depressed for some seconds the relay operates and bike starts.

It obviously sounds like its being starved for fuel, you said that you replaced the pump and the filter, what about the carbs ? has anyone checked them out ?
If the bike has been sitting over the winter and the carbs were not drained or if the fuel wasn't stablized then you might have some dirty carbs, you can try draining the float bowls and then adding fresh fuel see if that helps, if not you'll likely have to pull your carbs and clean then. Todays fuel doesn't las that long before it goes bad.

Check your stand safety switch. Or your gear sensor. One of these is guilty!!!
