How do I remove an alternator from 1998 triumph trident 900

I don't mean to cop out, but I always recommend buying a service manual from say amazon for $15-30 bucks. It's the best money you'll ever spend, lays everything out nice and neat and will keep this awesome ride on the road for years to come.

Check the coil for that cylinder, it may be just a loose connection. Make sure the retaining bolts are tight and that there is no corrosion on the mounting points.

I have a triumph trident 900 1990 and I have a noise like a bad starter motor intermitent whilst riding its not there when i rev the engine at a standstill not in gear. its not there if i put the bike on...

If its only happening when moving and your feeling vibrations in your feet. Check your chain is not to tight. You could also have worn chain and sprockets. If not that then check rear wheel bearings and rear brake pads for heavy ware.

Loud valve rattle sound, guy i got bike from said this is normal on the 900cc sprint triumph is this true

Well my old trumpet sounded like a cuttlery draw being emptied into a tin bucket, lol... yes they DO indeed make a racket, however it shouldn't be TOO loud? As long as it sounds rhythmical and even and there are no "Tinny" (like hitting an empty tin) slapping sounds, then you should be all good.

It wouldn't hurt anything though, to give the Valves a good going over, and "set" them again. this will at least give you piece of mind, that nothing is indeed wrong. I have also found that using a synthetic oil that gets/stays? slightly thicker at running temperature, this too, helps quieten it down too. Also check the valve springs, rocker side play too, maybe it needs a shim? sometimes the springs weaken and cause a louder noise, just replace them if this is suspected. Remember though that the Triumph is a "Loose" motor and they do indeed make a racket, often until they heat up and tolerances tighten, and then it should all purrr.....

How do i remove the ignition from my 93 triumph trident sprint 900 i cant remove it from the top clamp

ignition barrells are generaly bolt rivetted to the underside of the top yolk (the head of the bolt snapps off when torqued). To remove the barrell the heads of the two rivets need to be drilled out.
