Depends if the oil and filter and oil cooler have been dismantled. If not and only the old oil has been drained it should be approx 4lr's, should state this under the oil filler as a guide. If its a complete strip down and rebuild your'll need at least 4.5ltr - 5ltr's so put in 4.5 and run for 5 mins, then check level

1997 kawasaki ninja zx6r will only select 1st gear

You need to be doing over 10 mph to select anything other than 1st...if it will not change up while riding then I would suspect that the bearings that stop the other gears engaging at low speed are stuck or worn. This system is designed to make it easier to find neutral at a standstill. If you haven't tried to change gear while moving get someone to spin the back wheel as you change up and the problem should go away...

I noticed a crack on the lower side of the frame on the right of my gas tank. Is this something that could be fixed and how? Anyone know where a guy could find a new frame? 97 Kawasaki zx6r

This is a known problem for the 96-97 model.
You can have it welded, (Aluminum!)
But make sure you disconnect the electricity connections from your frame.

I want to know how many quarters and what kind of filter i need for my zx6r 2006,also where i can get the motor oil and filter?

Try a bike shop for Kawasaki or even a car part shop that has listing for motorbike filters and normally they also sell the oil. Check your owners maual for the SAE requirement. You can try Castrol or Belray website. Good luck

My '02 zx6r has oil in the air filter box. I found the vent tube from the engine/ transmission was spraying oil into the air box. Even before the oil would spew the engine would die when the hose was...

it sounds like there is to much oil in the engine the same thing happened to my zx6r, hold the bike upright on level ground then check oil level on the glass viewing window which is on the right hand side of engine, you should see oil level between the low and high marks, if level is above top line you will need to drain some oil out by undoing sump bolt or using a siphon, when ever checking oil level bike needs to be upright on levelish ground some people check oil levels when bike is on side stand which is wrong as it shows oil level as low when in-fact its probably right
