SOURCE: removing harley davidson ultra classic gas tank

Drain the fuel either by siphening or removing the cross over tube at the front of the tank and letting it drain that way or just block off those cross over lines and leave the fule in the tank for removal.

0) remove seat
1) drain fuel
2) undo cross over line (bottom front of gas tank.
3) shut off pet **** and remove fuel line from pet ****.
4)there should only be 2 bolts holding the tank on, one at the top front of the tank and one at the back of the tank.

All in all a pretty easy (but possibloy messy) job.

SOURCE: assy of starter clutch on 2003 Harley Davidson

The starter on a late model Harley is a typical Nippondenso gear reduction type starter. They are all basically the same except for size.
To replace the starter clutch inside the starter assembly requires disassembly of the starter assembly.

I you will contact me directly, I will scan the procedure and drawings out of a service manual for you.

SOURCE: starter removal on 2004 ultra classic harley davidson

Disconnect battery , remove the outer primary case, pull back the lock tab on the starter jackshaft, unbolt the retainer screw, then remove the two starter bolts from the right side, sometimes you need to loosen the oil tank mounts to get at these, slip the starter and coupler out as a unit, replace the coupler and jackshaft the same way they came out when the new starter goes in, install bolts , retighten the jackshaft bolt and bend over the retainer, install and fill primary case, connect battery thats it buddy

SOURCE: how do you remove starter on a 1992 harley

you really need to get a book to refer to as you do this cause its not just unbolt the starter and throw in a new one your outer primary has to come off to remove drive gear and you need to pay close attention to parts positioning so a book with pictures like clymer is worth getting.are you sure its the starter kind of a big job if it was a weak battery

SOURCE: how to remove a starter from a 1999 harley

its very straight forward.. Disconnect the battery and drain the chain case and open it ....... Then take the jack shaft bolt off. hold the gear with a pliers. After that - the starter just has 2 mounting bolts, Harley says to remove the rear exhaust but I havent had to. Disconnect the electrical and pull the starter straight out

Starter on 83 fxrt spins but wont engage

Check all your connections to starter and battery. If all connections are tight and the starter doesn't engage, it's time for a new starter.

I have 1984 fxr and the starter was takin off the bike. i need to know the proper sequence of all the gears and if pos do you have a digram

I don't really understand what information you want. There is only one gear involved with the starter and it simply drops into the starter housing and the starter drive shaft holds it in place. For a diagram, go to http://www.bikebandit.com Click on OEM parts and go from there. Here is the best drawing of the starter drive that I could find. http://www.bikebandit.com/1984-harley-davidson-fxr/o/m1397#sch179211 If there is any other information that you need, please re-post with another question.

How do i remove clutch main shaft nut 1984 fxrt

The nut has left-handed threads. It should be torqued to about 80 foot pounds max. I usually use an air wrench but you may need a "primary locking bar" to wedge between the two primary sprockets to keep things from turning on you.
