GM motors are numbered on the driver side as 1-3-5-7 and on the passenger side as 2-4-6-8. These numbered cylinder go from the front of the motor toward the back.

The 84 Silverado came with 305,350, and 454 engines. Look on the side of the block by the oil filter and get the casting number. Call your local Chev. dealer and they can tell you.
