2012 Kawasaki VN 1700 Voyager sounds like a valve tap coming from Engine. It will go away after riding and warming up. Is it a valave tap or something else?

When the bike starts it makes a " tick, tick tick" sound, valve tap sound I believe. I have heard that is normal but I don't think so. It will go away when real hot and warmed up..How do I investigate/ trouble shoot to determine the problem??

Hi,the sound you are getting is normaly to do with the camshaft cleerance between the camshaft lob and the shim on the valve,if when the sound gose away when the engine is hot its the gap getting smaller due to exspantion,I would leave it unless you can hear the sound when engine is hot,if you cant live with it the whay it is the only way to sort it out is to get a works manual and do the valve cleerances, which means takeing the rocker cuver off and checking the gaps between each lobe and shim and replacing with the right shim to make the gap right, hope this was some help.

After installing power commander v and V&H slipons I have had nothing but rough running, popping, and lack of power

Sounds too lean. Usually a dyno tune session is the best way to optimize performance with any mods to intake & or exhaust.

How much oil is in the 2011 Vulcan Voyager 1700

Add the 5.3 quarts then start the engine. Let it run for about 2 or 3 minutes then shut it off. Let stand maybe 30 seconds to one minute then check it. I made the same mistake and was over filling. The 5.3 quarts should bring you to the normal level if you check it warm. Not to hot like after a ride. You will burn yourself on the dipstick. When the oil is cold and has been siting in the bike it will read very low on the stick.

Frount end wobble on my 1992 kawasaki voyager

So many differnt things can cause this.
worn tyre front
bent wheel
bent discs
worn wheel bearings
worn or unlubricated head bearings.
leaking fork seals'lack of fork oil

the problem can also be caused from the rear of the bike, tyre, bearings, swing arm. misaligned wheels, bent frame etc.

If this has just started happening, tyres and bearings most common.
If there has been no crash involved a lot of the possibility are already excluded
