Stator resistance should be low (probably less then .2 ohm), your looking for continuity between the 2 or 3 (usually yellow) wires but not to ground. The rotor should have in the neighborhood of 4.5 ohm and no continuity to ground.
The pickup is checked for continuity and function with a meter by tripping the metal prong on the bottom to ground with a screwdriver.
The primary resistance of the coils could be less then 1 ohm to over 5 depending on the system and the secondary resistance from 8000 to more then 11000 ohm.
Check the "OFF" switch on the right handlebar, make sure you have battery voltage at one (small) coil wire and a good ground at the other. Frank

hope this helps

Try adujsting the rev screw on the side of the carb, dont turn it any more than 1/8 at a time, turn it clockwise to increase revs, and anti-clockwise to decrease them
Please rate my help, thanks
SOURCE: please help I have a 1980's model susuki dr 250
I have a 83 DR 250 and i'm not getting enough voltage to create a spark, all I can suggest is that you check your battery and make sure its at full flavour. Check and see if you are getting any voltage prior to the ignition coil (should be 18-35v). If you suspect battery then try clutching it as the alternator moving faster might give you enough to get her going. Also check all your connections and earths. Earth wires are often overlooked and can cause you just as many problems as the actives. So give that a go and get back to me mate. Cheers

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, test for the presence / absence of below described voltages using an analog / needle type voltmeter when starting the bike:
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
SOURCE: my 2004 ttr 225 yamaha
it has to be 12v. the bike runs on a 12v system. before u check the cdi. check the plug. and the gaping. i had the same problem but it was the pulse coil. the ttr 225 is more of a beginer bike it comes from the factory very lean. so it might not be that you have a low spark because they are not ment to be fast they just have a low spark from the factory. check your carb and the jets. that might just be your problem. let me know how it works out.
