Is the idle low, May be a Idle Air Control valve.

When coming to a stop does it feel like its still in gear trying to creep forward if you take you foot of the brake. If so you may have a torque converter problem ( Transmission problem ). Take it in to have it looked at.

Sounds like the kick down cable is not working properly. The kick down cable is the cable that tells the transmission to down shift depending on the throttle position. If the cable fails then when the car is turned off and restarted it is in too high of a gear to go and bogs the engine till it dies. Check this out and see if this doesn't get you back in business. Hope this helps. Good luck. cj2176.

Turns off after driving it for a few miles it will turn on again but once I put it in gear it will turn off again have to let it cool off till I could get it running again...

This could be a couple of different problems. You said it dies after it gets warm. Is this just like when you stop at a stop sign? And you say it starts back up but dies when you put it in gear? If you restart it and leave it in park it won't die??? Just dies if you put it in gear? I think it might be your torque converter clutch solenoid.
