Cuts off after 30 minutes, starter won't work. Sits for an hour, now starts and runs. What do you think? It has power, all lights and horn work. Starter will not work until, sits for a while, once it shuts off.

That's great, but how would starter problem be related to engine cutting off after 30 minutes

  • Vernon Taylor Jan 04, 2016

The cutting out and the none-starting might not be connected though probably is. Diagnosis has to begin somewhere and working backwards from the starting trouble is probably the best place to begin eliminating things and beginning to form a few ideas.
Of course if dedicated diagnostic equipment is available simply plugging it in could provide a short-cut.

Could be an electronic problem, immobiliser for instance, or it could be the starter motor has become temperature sensitive.

I suggest you check the supply to the motor when it won't start and double check by providing the motor with an independent supply. Shorting the solenoid if it is accessible will take final diagnosis another step further and then independently energising the solenoid a step furth still.

I have a Malita dual sliding compound miter saw LS1016LX. Trigger will not start saw after 5-10 cuts. When saw sits for 30 minutes, it runs again.

I'd contact a Makita dealer. I've had this saw for years without a single misfire on the trigger. Could be heat related, but that's a stretch. Here's their contact information:

Goldwing won t start

Check for any blown fuses or relays, check the starter switch to make sure power is going into the switch and out to the starter solenoid, if there is power coming from the switch to the solenoid but the starter wont turn you will have to have the starter checked or replaced.

My 2004 Honda Pilot ran fine then a hour later won't start. At first thought battery so we charged up usig one of those chargers you plug in. Lights flicker, and clicking sounds but won't turn

Check batry terminals are secure & free from corosion, check security of earth strap to engine & main power wire on starter, if ok have the batry load tested to ensure it can perform under load as the starter needs a lot of current. Have you tried a jump start?

My car won't crank, lights work, horn blow and

Starter not turning over?
Controlled by integrated starter selenoid. SOMETIMES, tapping the starter will cause the selenoid to operate.
Assume that voltage (12Vdc) is getting to the starter when the key is in the start position (take 2 people and a voltmeter to check it).

Everything works in the car but after driving I turn off the car. After few minutes to a couple of hours I get back into the car to try to start the car and I get nothing. Not a sound. I have all my dash...

sounds like your starter could be heating up on you, check to see if any exhuast pipe runs close to the starter, and see if the starter has a shield protecting it from heat.
