No spark My 1995 Ninja zx6 has no spark. i seem to not be getting power to one of the coils. i replaced the cdi and still nothing, i tested the coils and they tested good. what i need to know is what sends the power to the coils to give spark. i dont have any specs or numbers for voltage or anything.

Yamaha G1 Golf cart...Engine does not crank when key is on and gas pedal is depressed... suggestion??.. I've heard that the CDI might be the issue...Discontinued part?

cranking is turning over which indicates that the battery and starter is doing the job
cranking but not firing indicates ignition or fuel problems
now that you have the correct terminology perhaps you can get an answer
first test is to pull a plug ground it out or use a spark plug tester crank it over to see if there is spark
Good spark forget CDI and coil so look at fuel
NO spark indicated , check for 12 volts from the ignition switch on the start circuit
Ignition switches have to power wires to the coil
on gives power when cranking and the other continues power when the starter is nor engaged
power in both positions move on to next check
no power from the switch to the coil when cranking --get new switch next check if both wires have 12 volts is the ignition circuit
check for safety micro switches not working right up to the CDI
power to the CDI but no spark --replace cdi
power from the cdi nut still no spark --replace the coil
AS to not available
check after marker as the units are generic and made by electronic companies not golf cart manufacturers so it is a distinct possibility that a cdi from some where else will fit

I PRESUME YOU WERE CRANKING THE MOTOR WHEN YOU TESTED FOR VOLTAGE AT THE COILS? HAVE YOU CHECKED KILL SWITCHES AT SIDE STAND AND HANDLEBARS FIRSTLY?

My 1995 yamaha vmax motorcycle starts fine. when it warms up after a bit it shuts down. the shop is puzzled. they said that all 4 coils test out fine but when it is warm they all 4 just stop. no spark goes...

have them test the cdi box. it is your electronic controler for your ingnition timeing. it could be getting hot and shuting down. when it shuts down. the can take a wire from the negative side of the coil and ground it to the frame touching it and letting go of it instintly and if it sparks its not the coils it will be the cdi box or something to do with the electronic pickups in the motor that gives the signal to the cdi. that it is the correct time to trigger firing. hope this helps out.

Kawasaki zx 6r, no ignition spark from plugs. Coils get 12 v. it seems that cdi is working as griund seems to be cut when trying to star. I have checked the plugs against motor and frame.

check your spark plugs leads
the CDI unit need to be tested for power and make sure that no wires are touching the frame as this could stop your ignition .
the cut off switch could be faulty too .
check all power sources around your motor as a wire could easely burned and earth itself .

Probably a gas delivery problem to the carbs. Check the lines and check for a filter in the line or at the carbs. Something is stopped up and it can't get enough gas to go any rpms.

Engine turn over. no spark

use a ohm meter see that the cdi box is getting a signal from the pulse generator or take the cdi box to a derler and have it checked
