Hi, Anonymous you may have a dirty/gumed up throttle cable that needs lubricating or it may be smashed or pinched slightly just enough to cause binding. Your carbuerator slide could be binding especially if it's sloppy in the bore, if it's a cv carb you may have diaphram issues, your choke/enrichner may not be seating properly. The whistling noise could be an intake leak or leaky head gasket and I am sorry you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Aprilia but despair not for a mere $10 you can download another one. What causes 1996 Dodge Neon SOHC automatic transmission to delay or slip shifts?

that is a hum dinger, largest ever posted, in one shot.
very good.!
one word , the transmission slips. (never drive a slipping tranny)
overheat indicator.! that is key.
many newer cars will change the transmission shifting any time
the engine over heats.
and overheat wins over transmission , every time.
if the engine burns up, what good is any transmission.? nada.

solve overheat first.

slip or flare.
is when the engine RPM rises fast and the car dont go faster.
SLIPS.
and slipping burns up trannyclutchs and increases the damage. inside the transmission, dont do that. dont allow it,
park it and fix it.

on some tranny there is a temperature sensor that the TCM
watches and changes shift patterns based on AFT fluid temps.
and if the ATF fluid gets too hot , it takes actions. to keep the tranny from harm.

why not get a scan too and see what DTC errors there are..
DTC, engine overheate.
DTC< tranny overheat (caused by above)

My ktm 65 sx gear shift wont select down

not sure bout that bike specificaly, probly there is a spring on the gearshift shaft , or something to return the lever and shift drum back whenever actuated. no matter what it is, you gotta split the cases to fix it .

When hooking my new vrod battery up i can hear the starter spinning when i try to attach the ground...what am i doing wrong

When you discovered your battery was kaput, you were probably trying to start your bike at the time. I have seen on rare occasions that when this happens, the starter solenoid gets "stuck" in the "engaged" positon. Try rocking your bike backwards and forwards a few times with the transmission in high gear. Rock the bike while shifting the tranny until you get it into high gear. The with the clutch out, rock the bike and turn the engine over a few times. Shift the bike back down to neutral and try to connect the battery. Rocking the bike while in gear rotates the outer clutch drum. If the starter jack shaft is still engaged with the ring gear on the outer clutch drum, rocking the bike a bit will turn the drum allowing the spring in the starter to pull the jack shaft and starter gear back out of engagement. I hope this helps.

could be the crankshaft sensor causing the timing to be off if it has a coilpack type distributor or if it has a gear driven distributor then it could be either the distributor itself or possibly just cap and rotor
