Could be a bad ABS sensor I even had a section of wire where the ABS wire comes out by the wheel that was dirty and corroded. They put a new connector in and cleaned the other connectors up and now it's ok. Even if yore ABS light is on your brakes will still work just your ABS part won.t. My mechanic said its ok to drive even if your ABS does not wok. You should check your mechanic about that to be sure.
Year make and model ? The warning light means there is a problem with the system and it is disabled until the problem is repaired. You would need to get the system or the body computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed.
You appear to have soaked the abs system sensors in the wheels and shorted them out...A short can take a battery to zero in no time...Check out the car for shorts!
Just as a precaution, please check the brake fluid reservoir on that model. There is a sensor at the base of the master cylinder which can leak brake fluid over the wiring circuit, and cause the electrics to short out. In some extreme cases this has caused fires in some vehicles. This is why Ford had issued a recall to this particular model in the states at least.
abs light means anti lock brake system and the light is telling you that they aren't working properly. you still have brakes it just won't be with the anti lock system your vehicle has. you will need to have your brake system checked out.

If your ABS light is on, changing the brake (pads) won't fix the light.
There are several reasons for the ABS light to go on, and probably the most common is the connection to one of the four wheel speed sensors, or bad sensors. On most GMs, the sensor and wheel bearing are one assembly.
First, you need to get the error code read via the OBD2 plug. The dealer can do it of course. And many parts stores, such as AutoZone will scan for codes for free.
The code will give you a clue to the problem. Until the problem is fixed, the light can be reset, but it will turn back on almost right away.
I have the same van with similar problems. I had a small leak from the lower left corner of the windshield that dripped down into my fuse box when we had a heavy rain. My defrost light and dome lights got stuck on. We had to remove the fuses and let the box dry out. We had to take it to someone to find the leak and caulk the windshield. I don't know if this might help but you might look into this????? Good luck.
