Whats the adjustments on a 1996 kawasaki vulcan 800 carburetor. the bike seems to blacken the plugs and run sluggish. it was rejetted however im not sure if the carb was adjusted for the new jets. im curious what OEM adjustments are.

Go to Babbitt's online you can order a new factory carburetor.

Any motorcycle parts dealer would be able to put you right on track. A Kawasaki parts department will be able to tell you as well.

could be you spark plugs need replacing

Perform a compression test. Your looking for a bad ring.

How many miles?? The needle jet/jet needle (brass kit) may need replacing ...they wear out due to vibration and cause the spark plugs to turn black, get poor milage, and then "carbon foul".
Try running it without the air filter for a few miles.. see if that makes it run better. If so, I would replace the air filter and put a new brass kit in the carburetor.
You can try moving the CLIP on the needle UP to the second to the top position, OR the top position..that will lean out the mixture/carburetor.

please check for the sparkplug gap setting and also check the carburetor settings........back fires presisit due to uneven plug gap or uneven carburetor fuel setting>>>>!!1

You have the classic symptom of a dirty carb, has the bike been sitting ? What is happening is you are compensating for more fuel by activating the choke, you can try some "Techron" you get it at your local auto parts store its usually in the fuel injector cleaner area, this can sometimes dislodge and clean the jets, if that doesn't work then I would have the carburetor clean properly.

todays bikes run perfect on Regular, which can be from 87 to 90 in some cases. you would not damage the bike by using pump gas like super or premium but anything higher may cause problems. but there is no advantage to using premium

if u r bike new purchased so go to u r service center and tell them about that problem

and

if it is old so service it means use both options
tune up & carburetor clean both

and after service it every two weeks it will be fine after that
