My Yamaha raptor 350 makes a ticking noise once I move it down from nutral

Check and reset (if needed) the valve clearances. With the engine cold, set the intake to .002 and the exhaust to .003. Is the cam chain tensioner set properly? Burn premium gas and install a new NGK spark plug one heat range colder than stock to lessen any possible pre-ignition. Are there any signs of wetness, oil or blackish discoloration on the base of the cylinder head? > A blown head gasket can make a ticking sound also.

sounds like you need a new clutch. but first make sure that your clutch cable is'nt too tight. it should have a little bit of freeplay when you pull the lever.

If you hear the knocking all the time and it sounds like it coming from the lower part of the motor then i would have to say you may have a rod bairing gone bad. If you hear it at the top end of the motor then you have a wrist pin or piston slap. Eather way you will have to remover the motor and disasemble it to repair it.
