I'm not too familiar with the YZ125. If the clutch lever (where the lower end of the clutch cable connects) is on the outside of the transmission case, see if you can push the lever back and forth. Feel for resistance If the clutch lever moves both ways freely, the clutch return spring in the clutch is broken, or the clutch has failed. You'll have to drain the engine oil and remove the clutch cover. Then remove and disassemble the clutch to replace the return spring... or take it to a shop and have them do it.
You most likely have notches warn onto the fingers of the inner clutch basket. The friction plates wear these groves into the fingers and then clutch travel becomes notchy.
May also be a binding of the teeth on the pull rod and actuator. If the clutch is slipping badly may be broken springs.
You will have to remove the side engine cover and have a good look. If the inner basket has notches you can just file them smooth again.

Your clutch is not fully disengaging.Adjust the cable at the lever until you have plenty of free play. Then adjust the cable at the motor until you have full engagement then readjust lever to 3/8 in play.Fine tune at the motor. It may take a few trys but you can get it.

sounds to me like your friction plates in your clutch assy. are worn down to much.

First, get a new clutch cable. Tape the new cable to the old one and unhook the old one. Now you have a new cable and a reserve cable ready for use if needed during a race.
Second, change gearbox oil and install a new oil filter if your bike has one. All the dirt and grit in the oil is binding the clutch. Ride the bike for a couple of hours using the clutch often. Now drain the oil again and put in fresh oil. This will flush out the dirt and grit. Use 10w40 motor oil. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell.

With out pulling in you clutch I can't tell you if it is a normal pull or not. You can buy an easy pull ball and ramp for your clutch, or start working out your grip with a tennis ball.
