Two things bring the Battery indicator on. 1, The sensor in the battery is too high, by being prised up over time or the Battery fluid is too low for the sensor to come in contact with, so top it up until it is just above the plates. 2, The battery is getting flat and causing the light to be on. If the battery has been replaced and there is no sensor, yo can just connect the sensor wire to the positive terminal of the battery and the icon will go away. If you have charging issues, then you need to checj the output of the Stator (Generator) by unplugging the regulator/Rectifier and checking the output voltage of the Stator across each pair of the 3 yellow wires with the engine at 5000rpm, there should be 90 (or more) volts AC, if not, it needs to be replaced. If that voltage is OK and the the attery charging voltage is low, then you might need to replace the reg/rect. If you need more info, there is an email group, you can join it via www.suzukicavalcade.com hope this helps.
Check for proper voltage where the light gets its signal from. There may be a bad wire going to the sending unit, in turn turning on the light.

I looked at the bike yesterday. My experience tells me to raise my knowledge and comfort level before getting my tools out. The situation seems different than he described. A local auto mechanic somehow measured 13 amps in the charge circuit. Until I put my meter on it, I cannot validate this information. As of yesterday, the battery is too low to allow starting the engine, but the dash lights up and the radio functions at low volume. Five days ago, he charged the battery overnight and rode about 30 miles. Seems to me that the possibilities include a bad battery or charging circuit. The diagram will be helpful, but I need more info concerning the charging apparatus.
