SOURCE: Need cylinder and cylinder head torque specifications 98 XR 250

you dont need torque specs on that just use a 1/2 inch drive with you 14mm or16mm socket hold the wratchet right at the top and tighten it as tight as you could get it like that then use wratchet in normal position and just give it a little snugg it will be perfect i have done it a million time on the same type of bikes...

SOURCE: headlight 1972 yamaha 250 yz

You can add a headlight if the type of ignition system on your particular model is the type that will let you. Several different systems were used back then. The proper system will need a lighting coil installed onto the plate underneath the flywheel. The flywheel must be pulled off. You will see a coil there already for the spark. An unused set of threaded screw holes is present, (the same plate was used on the bikes that had a headlight). Just add the coil and now you have power for a headlight.

SOURCE: what is the torque specs

If it's a M8 x 1.25 thread, the torque will be 30 NM. I don't have a 83 manual, but from 96-present torque was the same. It also is the standard torque for any fastener of this size. Good luck!

CONVERT A YZ 250 INTO A WR 250

The YZ is a dirt bike as is. The WR is a street bike and has more accessories on it.
  • Remove the body parts you do not want to get broken. Turn signals, tail light, speedometer, tachometer and mirrors are the main things. Fenders and headlight are possibilities also but the fenders tend to keep mud off the the engine and your body while the headlight allows you to ride at night.
  • Change to a larger rear sprocket. Two or three teeth will make a difference. This will make the bike to " quicker " off the line and out of turns and provide more torque than stock. Top end is a bit slower but with all the twists and turns you seldom get to top speed anyway.
  • Get a heavier flywheel. Yamaha has one but the cost is about $105.00. An aftermarket flywheel may be an option that would cost less.
