Where is the engine number

The frame serial number is stamped on the
right side of the frame down tube.
The VIN number label is located just below
the frame number on the right side frame down tube.
The engine serial number is stamped on a pad on the left
side of the crankcase and the right side of the
crankcase. not sure if the VRods are the same.

I just purchased a1980 FXWG The vin # is 9g50938j0. What I would like to know is of the bikes produced in 1980 how many were FXWG and what were the color options. Is there anyway nto find out what color...

To find out anything about your bike, you must use the longer frame VIN number. The engine number is an abbreviated version ot the frame number and they should match. This would indicate that the original engine is in the frame. If they do not match, then the engine and frame combination are not as they originally came from the factory. This will destroy any "collector's value" that the bike may have had. You'll have to call Harley's historical division to find the information that you're asking for and since they get so many requests for this, you may not get it.

Good Luck

Location of all vin numbers on bike and engine. ?

The vin number commonly known as the frame or chassis number can be found on the front tube of the frame, headstock to the righthand siide at this point the steering yoke is affixed, if this is a uk bike the vin plate should be on the righthand of the frame also, close to your. Right knee when you sit on the bike, but the number on this plate is the same as the one found on the frame, the engine number is located also on the right hand side ontop of the crackcase just above the clutch cover, all of this information can be found on the log book, or registration doc if you have one hope this helps

Need year of engine

The frame number is the Vehicle Identification Number. If the engine is the original engine, then the engine is the same year as decoded from the frame number. If it is not the original engine, you are hosed as to determining the year of the engine. The engine numbers will not identify what year the engine is. The only identifier is the frame number. Engine numbers are useless since they only denote the engine size, assembly plant, and sequence of that engine in a production run. You can go to the site below and enter the frame number into the VIN decoder to get the year and other information. Note; back in 1985 the manufacturers adopted 17 digit VIN. If you have less than 17 digits you are out of luck. Please rate my answer. Thanks. http://www.motoverse.com/tools/vin/kawasaki.asp

I just purchased a new 2005 rm125 and can't find the VIN #? Where is the VIN located I want to match it against the title.

The Rm125 Vin number is usually on the bikes steering neck, just behind the front Number Board.
Usually it is just to the right of the steering neck so you can read it from the right hand side. The clutch cable will also run close past it so if you follow th eclutch cable from the clutch lever, to where it rounds the frame just past the steering neck, you will see the VIN Number.

Where is the serial number ? 2006 TTR 125 L

There are 2 numbers. One is the frame number or VIN. It is located on the right side of the steering head. The other is engine manufacturers number and is cast in the engine case. Look first on the right side behind the cylinder but anywhere on the crankcase now a days is fair game
