My 1993 vn1500 carbs are not creating a vacume

1st-part of the carb is the fuel bowl
the way you can identify the bowl some carbs will have a small glass window to check the level
check if the bowl has a bolt at the bottom that will be for draining

2nd- if not you will need to remove the carb and strip it to clean it out

Loosen bowl, while engine is cold, until fuel runs out. , then tighten bowl back up. It may have an air lock problem.

the shut off valves for the float bowl are probably stuck-or not seating properly --remove the carbueretors and remove the float bowls ( the bottom covers ) - the valves are over the floats, near the pivot point -remove the pins that hold the floats - and remove the floats - the valves may be attached to the floats with a small klip --inspect and clean the valve and the valve seat

is it a bowl style carb and you cleaned it is it a diaphram style and you replaced the diaphram ?the older 5hp briggs engines would run fine if you started it with carb cleaner some leaked head gaskets and could create enough vac to draw in the fuel

Is fuel reaching the carb bowls? blocked pilot incorrct float height? fuel pup diaphram working ?

No, nothing else to check. You need to completely disassemble the carb and clean it out. When gasoline left in the float bowl evaporated, it left behind the gummy additives that the refinery puts in the gasoline. This mess has clogged the jets and small passageways in the carb. The reason it runs with the "choke" out is that it is not a real "choke" but rather an "enricher circuit". It has it's own air passageway and fuel metering "jet" in the float bowl.

Once the carb is removed, make sure you strip the carb down over an area where you are unlikely to loose parts should you drop them. Once the fuel pipe is removed which will need to be squashed to stop fuel loss, empty the fuel float bowl using the drain screw over a clean container which you can then inspect the condition of fuel coming out. Strip the jet and fuel atomiser (Unscrew) and the float from the float bowl. Before cleaning with carb cleaner ensure you remove the rubber gaskets as these will be damaged if they come into contact with carb cleaner as they will swell and no longer fit. For best resuls blow with compressed air, mind your eyes carb cleaner stings like hell! Reassemble, the bits will only go back from wence they came. Ensure the float is positioned correctly with the needle, don't over tighten the screws just nip them up. Good luck

You need to check and see if you are getting fuel from the tank into your carbs, if you pull the line that feeds the petcock valve off the top gas should come out. If it doesnt there is a clog in your tank. Now pull the line off the bottom of the petcock valve (this feeds your carbs) and make sure you have fuel at all setting of the petcock valve except for off. If you dont then you probably have a bad petcock valve. If you are getting fuel from the petcock vavle into you carbs then there is a problem with your carbs.

If you take the fuel bowl drain screw out of the carb (located on the bottom). Gas should run out of the associated carb, if it doesn't, then you have something stuck in the carb and one carb not working correctly can make the bike not run. If you find this to be the problem get a can of carb cleaner, take the fuel bowl drain screw out and let the gas run out, stick the red spray wand from the can of cleaner into the hole and flush your carbs out really good.

Then give it a try. Make sure that the connection between your carbs and head is tight while you are there. If that does not fix your problem you may ahve to pull the carbs and take a closer look.

You have a problem in the fuel system. First start by checking fuel lines,filter,vacum fuel pump.If this checks out,remove carb. and clean. Check for water and trash in bowl of carb. or tank. This sould solve your problem.

Are the cabies flooding or runing out of fuel? pull the choke on dose it help if it does low fuel.

Drain the bowls and see if there is plenty of fuel.....If its flooding turn the fuel off or block it when the engine starts to drop clys if it starts to pick up after 10secs or so the carbies are flooding
